Reporting to the Managing Director of Software Enterprise Middleware and Online Security Technology (EMOST), The Managing Director, Online Authentication will drive the development and maintenance of Online Security systems supporting all lines of business across the firm. The Managing Director will provide guidance to software development teams with respect to evaluating technologies, implementing target architecture, designing solution and reference architectures for Online Security Solutions. The Managing Director ensures Applications and Platforms across Online Security are highly available in conformance to SLAs to minimize client-impacting outages, reduce risk including market and regulatory, and drive continuous delivery for the broader organization to meet key commitments.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The MD will lead development efforts in accordance with Schwab Technology Services strategy in support of client Authentication and Authorization. The MD will be an experienced technology manager preferably with domain experience in identity and security, accustomed to running large teams with a significant scope of responsibility including managing managers and architects. A senior and trusted leader for business and technology partners in helping drive effective decision making and delivery of projects. Have extensive experience managing agile development teams and a strong understanding in how to effectively manage production systems. Should have been a developer or a dedicated technologist as an individual contributor in their career along with having a track record of hiring great talent and in delivering projects on time and on budget to expectations. Seasoned and experienced in managing project and FOEX budgets. Excellent communications skills and the ability to inspire others to achieve greater goals.

  • Experience leading in an Agile delivery environment and implementing Continuous Deliver is a big plus.
  • Broad and deep knowledge of IT/software technology and trends, domain knowledge and experience in infrastructure support, application development, and cloud based application development, web services, middleware, operating systems, databases, networking, security and business intelligence.
  • Manage day-to-day activities and lead team members to leverage, follow, and support agile software development and DevOps practices.
  • Develop and document resourcing roadmaps, budgets and schedules.
  • Assist SAVE, 'Run' and 'Support', teams in building durable systems/applications and ensuring a low MTTR (mean time to resolution).
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical coding and mentoring when necessary
  • Strong influencing, coaching, and mentoring skills; proven success in building credibility and strong relationships with peers and key stakeholders

What you have

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline preferred.
  • Identity and security domain expertise preferred
  • 10+ years of leading and managing IT teams, with project management, resource management, and offshore resource management capabilities.
  • Prior programming experience with Java, C .NET and/or C# is preferred. Good knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Red Hat LINUX, standard relational databases, such as Microsoft SQL Server, IBM DB2 or Oracle and NO SQL Databases.
  • 5+ years' experience with running medium to large/complex projects with multiple dependencies. Demonstrated ability to define and communicate strategy and vision and influence across the Enterprise is essential.
