- What the job entails:

Youll work 5 days a week producing content at our fantastically beautiful campus in the Texas Hill Country.

For 20 years, Wizard Academy has taught storytelling and marketing to creative and ambitious entrepreneurs and professionals from around the world. Weve helped thousands of people effectively tell their stories through relevance and authenticity. They fly to Austin, spend a few days on campus, and gain a tremendous amount of knowledge in a short amount of time.

As a non-profit educational institution, our mandate is to educate - and were now investing in video to do that on a broader scale. Thats where you come in.

Specifically, well be using video content to connect with our community, share relevant messages, and teach courageous people how to turn their dreams into reality. That means we have opportunities for many kinds of videos. (Educational videos / Testimonials / Interviews / Funny shorts / YouTube series / Etc.)

This job offers a lot of creative flexibility, but not at the expense of speed and productivity. There will always be fresh projects nipping at your heels, so you must be able to go from idea to execution with the available tools and time. In other words, this job is all about - Getting Things Done.

So whats the catch?

The learning curve is steep. Itll take you a few months to really settle in.

You have zero chance of landing this job as a freelancer. This is a full-time position.

We are in deep South Austin (by Salt Lick BBQ). Make sure the commute is practical before applying.

Address: 16221 Crystal Hills Drive Austin, TX 78737

If you dont read this posting thoroughly (hint hint), we will never see your resume.

Even though speed is critical, we value thoroughness and the ability to focus, so were putting a special word in this paragraph to weed out sloppy people. Anyone skimming through job descriptions and blindly blasting out resumes wont see it. But youre actually reading this job description, arent you? Nicely done. Put the word, #TOWER somewhere in your reply, and well give your resume the same respect youve given this job description. Well actually read it!

Tasks:

- Collaborate with staff and clients to tell meaningful, compelling stories appropriate for their audience.

- Be able to construct a narrative story from interview selects, from both a single interview or from multiple interviews.

- Organize and string together unscripted sound bites into a continuous and compelling message.

- Select music appropriate for audience and taste level.

- Ability to color correct video files.

- Set up and maintain an organized editing station.

- Maintain video file and asset management systems.

- Determine the specific audio / visual effects and music necessary to complete videos.

- Select and combine the most effective shots of each scene to form a logical and smoothly running story.

- Customize AE templates with things like new logos and color palettes.

- As needed, help with things like storyboards, shoots and planning our own video content.

As we continue to grow - be ready to wear multiple hats. If something needs doing, jump in and help. Most of the people who work here have been around for several years. This is not a place with a lot of turnover. This is a truly amazing job for the right person.

Is that person you? Show me! Send LINKS to examples of your work. Tell me about yourself. Please DO NOT send that impersonal, generic resume you're sending everyone else.
