The Field Service Technician performs different types of support at the customer’s location, such as troubleshooting, setup, and installation of systems and equipment. Daily work logs and service tickets must be filled out and accurate. Technicians must be able to work face to face with customers on a regular basis, providing training and product support. Technicians must have good product knowledge, but also be able to “think outside the box” when necessary. Applicants must be able to work without much direct supervision on a daily basis. Project management skills are helpful, as many projects involve ensuring that equipment from multiple vendors is installed properly and working together. There are typically multiple projects in progress at the same time, so technicians must be able to track and stay updated on multiple tasks at the same time.
Key Responsibilities:
Altruistic AC Field Service Technicians are expected to pursue and handle increasing responsibility. Essential duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair heating, ventilation, and cooling units and the mechanical and electrical components of the systems while in the field
Provide on-call emergency service - nights or weekends - as required and maintain communication with the department manager while in the field
Educate customers on preventive maintenance and safety regulations, and provide general customer service on the phone and in person
Maintain records of service calls, training, and expenses
Maintain good working order of company vehicle including refueling as necessary, reporting any mechanical issues, and filling out and submitting monthly vehicle inspection form. Vehicles should be washed on a regular basis
Travel to job sites in service area, and work with dispatch to ensure schedule is maintained and delays are properly communicated to customer
Required Qualifications:
Successful candidates will demonstrate a history of outstanding extracurricular and academic interests as well as relevant experience and skills including:
Three to five years’ experience in installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting and correcting diverse HVAC service issues
Good analytical skills and attention to detail with ability to work independently in a timely manner, making sure job is done correctly the first time
Excellent customer service skills with desire to exceed customer expectations
Additional Qualifications:
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Valid social security number
Must be able to pass drug test(s) as required by company
Lift up to 70 pounds; be able to push, pull, carry or maneuver heavier items (with additional manpower or appropriate devices); carry ladders; work from heights, work in small crawl spaces.
Observe all company procedures and safety rules
Maintain accurate time records and send to payroll when required
Work as part of our team to ensure customer satisfaction
Fluency in Spanish is preferred but not required
