Employees at correctional facilities perform correctional work regardless of their specific occupation.ResponsibilitiesThe incumbent of this position serves as the Automotive Worker Foreman and is primarily involved in the operation and production of a factory engaged in the rebuilding and re-manufacturing or maintenance, repair and up-fitting of a wide variety of complex vehicular equipment and components for various agencies of the federal government, including the military, by utilizing an inmate workforce.They are responsible for technical and administrative supervision of inmates who use trades and labor skills to re-manufacture finished products according to required specifications and deadlines. They must also possess skill and knowledge regarding the supervision of trades and craft work which employs low skilled and very poorly motivated workers.The incumbent assigns, directs, and reviews inmates' work. Under the supervision of the Assistant Factory Manager or Factory Manager, they plan, schedule, and coordinate work operations using the shop floor control module of SAP. Incumbent must also solve work related problems in addition to determining materials and equipment necessary to produce a final product.They supervise and maintain both operational and safety conditions of various types of machinery and equipment used to perform all relative manufacturing, re-manufacturing, maintenance, or up-fitting functions.Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. On the day of the scheduled interview, a CVA will be administered. The applicant assessment must be completed within a 70 minute time period and a passing score must be obtained. Further employment consideration will not be extended if the applicant fails to complete the examination or fails to achieve a passing score.
