Job Description The P&GA Advisor will participate in a range of activities related to supporting ExxonMobil’s refining and chemical operations and managing its reputation. The position will include the execution of communications, media relations, community and government relations, emergency response, and advocacy activities. The P&GA Advisor will assist the P&GA Manager in maintaining positive relationships in the local community and with elected officials, addressing issues with the governing authorities, building sound relationships with local media, and providing counsel and support to the site senior management team, as appropriate. The position is designed to provide exposure to all facets of P&GA at an early stage of the career with the purpose of developing a well-rounded employee who is able to work in all levels of the organization. The position will be located in Baytown, Texas.Job Requirements Bachelor’s Degree (in communications, public relations, journalism, economics, English, political science or international relations preferred); 1 to 3 years of experience preferred; advanced degree in a communications or policy-related discipline also advantageous;Prior relevant experience in areas such as communications, marketing, public policy issues management, political campaigns, journalism, writing, or other related areasA demonstrated track record of achievement in external communicationsStrong writing and editing skills and experience developing speeches, executive letters, publications, blog posts, and other written materialsAbility to understand and articulate economics and the operations of global marketsAbility to write quickly and under pressureExcellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong internal and external relationshipsThe ability to work effectively as part of a global, virtual teamPreferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Ability to influence without authorityAbility to quickly understand, assimilate, and communicate complex issuesFamiliarity and interest in issues related to energy, economics, the environment, corporate citizenship, and government relationsStrong project-management skills with an ability to multi-task and remain flexible when priorities change; public policy experience is advantageousA positive, proactive team-oriented attitude, culturally sensitive and ideally familiar with the working environment of a large, international organizationUnderstanding and respect for international protocols, and cultural differencesEnthusiasm for public affairs challenges involved in working for one of the world’s largest, most successful companiesAlternate Location: United States : Houston, TexasExxonMobil is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
