Job Description

Position: Shop, Facilities and Fleet Manager

Location: Greater Houston Area / Greater Beaumont Area

Summary

The position of Shop, Facilities and Fleet Manager is a key position within the organization responsible for the planning, coordinating, and implementing processes and procedures to ensure efficient maintenance and repair of all fleet vehicles. Possible truck types include dump, end dump, roll-off, heavy haul, lowboy, and/or flatbed trucks. Additionally, this role is responsible for the oversight and management of all shop personnel including diesel mechanics, technicians, and shop helpers.

Job Responsibilities and Functions

- Maintain a highly efficient and cost-effective shop to ensure a well-maintained and operation fleet of trucks for the company.

- Oversee, direct, and manage all shop personnel to improve shop operations.

- Understanding vehicle failures, coordinating repair and maintenance plans, scheduling performance of needed work, procuring supporting parts, and maintaining all necessary documentation for the process.

- Create and review daily maintenance schedule, working with shop personnel to make sure that all priorities are in alignment and repair/maintenance tasks are completed in a timely manner.

- Responsible for ensuring that the shop (including all tools and inventory) is maintained in a clean, safe, and effective manner.

- Responsible for identifying areas of improvement and making suggestions for those improvements in regard to process, methodology, and personnel.

- Thorough understanding of industry best practices for safety including DOT, EPA, ICC, and OSHA rules and regulations as applied to the transportation industry.

Experience:

At least 2 years of management of a shop facility and corresponding fleet of heavy equipment and trucks. Experience in management of shop related to waste, trucking, or oilfield operations is highly desirable).

Requirements:

- Minimum: 2+ years of experience in fleet maintenance shop management.

- Must be 21 years of age or older.

- Management experience.

- No DWI or DUIs in the past 10 years.

- Ability to communicate fluently in English (written and verbally).

- Ability to perform job duties in a rapidly changing environment with competing priorities and sometimes under stress.

- Must possess the minimal experience listed above and requirements outlined herein.

Other Requirements:

- Must be able to pass a pre-employment background screening, which includes a drug test (position may be subject to ongoing drug testing as a term of continued employment)

- Ability to legally work in the US

Work Environment

This position operates largely in a maintenance shop environment. As such, employee may be exposed to extreme weather conditions, dust, debris, chemicals, heavy equipment, and other risks often associated with working in that environment.

Physical Demands

In the performance of the duties and responsibilities of this job, the employee is required to have visual acuity to operate a motor vehicle and view a computer terminal. While at work, the employee may be expected to sit, walk, and stand. Individual might be asked to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and/or crawl. Individual might be required to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. in the performance of this position.

This is typically a full-time position. Normal business hours and schedule to be determined.
