Work Hours:Full Time / DaysYou Will Be Responsible For:· Provides for the delivery of patient care through total patient assessment and identification of pertinent problems and needs during the recovery phase while conforming to hospital and departmental policies.· Assesses the patient status upon arrival to the PACU by performing an initial assessment and ongoing assessments. These include but are not limited to: respiratory status, O2 saturation, vital signs, dressings, output from foley and drains, and analysis of heart rhythms.· Recognizes and identifies life threatening situations responding with immediate action according to PACU protocol.· Recognizes significant changes in patient's condition, reporting to anesthesia/head nurse/charge nurse or surgeon if necessary, and documenting all appropriate actions.· Demonstrates the skill and judgment necessary for implementing the plan of care to provide quality care in assisting the patient to return to the outpatient area or surgical floor unit.· Maintains quiet, calm, clean and comfortable atmosphere for patient and family.· Demonstrates knowledge of PACU monitors, equipment and supplies as evidenced through competencies and observation by Charge Nurse and Department Manager.· Offers emotional and physical support and maintains optimum privacy for patient.· Administers medications competently in accordance with hospital and departmental policies.· Provides for safety and security needs as evidenced by documentation of safety restraints, side rails up, etc., and head nurse observation.QualificationsWhat You Will Need:· Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.· One to two years nursing experience with surgical patients.· Currently licensed to practice as an RN in the state of Texas or in a qualifying compact state.· Six months to one year of ICU or previous recovery room experience preferred.Job Summary:The PACU RN provides professional nursing care for the post-operative patient during Recovery Room stay and during transfer of the patient to the appropriate unit.This facility is an equal opportunity employer and complies with federal, state and local anti-discrimination laws, regulations and ordinances.We are an equal opportunity employer and do not tolerate discrimination based on race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex, marital status, age or disability/handicap with respect to recruitment, selection, placement, promotion, wages, benefits and other terms and conditions of employment.
