For more information regarding the benefit package go to: West Texas A&M University: Human Resources Benefits at https://www.wtamu.edu/business-finance/human-resources/benefits.htmlThe Director is responsible for the comprehensive management of the office of Sponsored Research Services and for providing vision and leadership in the areas of grant and contract negotiation/administration, analyzing and interpreting policy and procedures related to research administration, and developing/disseminating research administration-related information to the campus. The Director is expected to build and maintain positive relations with partnering offices as well as internal and external customers.Responsibilities:

Provide strategic reports on sponsored project activity.

Assist faculty, staff and students in proposal development.

Research possible funding opportunities.

Interpret and administer projects in accordance with federal, state, funding agencies and Texas A&M System regulations and guidelines.

Represent SRS on various compliance committees.

Review and, if necessary, negotiate all awards/extensions/revisions.

Participate in long range planning for externally funded research.

Facilitates collaboration both on & off campus focused on external funding.

Leads, directs and manages staff and the office of Sponsored Research Services.

Other duties as assigned.

Necessary Qualifications:

Masters or equivalent combination of experience and education.

10 years of research administration experience with minimum of 3 years of the experience in an institution of higher education.

Broad knowledge of the life cycle of a sponsored project.

Personnel management.

Budgeting.

Knowledge/understanding of federal, state and funding agencies policies/guidelines including compliance requirements.

Ability to review and negotiate complex grants and contracts.

General knowledge of intellectual property and tech transfer.

Collegial leadership.

Excellent verbal communication and writing skills.

Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects and deadlines.

Commitment to diversity.

Preferred Qualifications:

Doctorate

CRA

Experience with electronic proposal submission programs.

Intellectual property and tech transfer experience.
