The StaRN Critical Care RN Plus program provides a pathway for HCA Acute Care Medical- Surgical Telemetry RNs to transition into the critical care specialty. The curriculum is based on the AACN National Standards of Care.Program Starts: February 24th, 2020
Attendance is imperative and all days are required to remain in the program. No days can be missed.
The program is facilitated by HealthTrust (part of the HCA family)10-week training for acute hospital RNs new to the critical care nursing setting
Four weeks of interactive classroom discussions, case studies, hands-on skills training, and simulations with experienced StaRN critical care instructors
Six to eight weeks of clinical preceptorship
Interactive classroom lectures/discussions and hands-on critical care skills training
Cardiac and pulmonary intensive care
Advanced ECG skills
Ventriculostomy set up and management
Ventilator management
Train of four - peripheral nerve stimulator
Critical care medication titration
Ventilator fundamentals and managementICU-specific case studies
High fidelity simulations in local lab

o Eligible to transfer per policy:
6 months in current position
No write ups in the last 6 months
o ADN Nurses will need to commit to attaining a BSN within 2 years
