Why You'll Love This Job: The Database Engineering team ensures stability, resiliency, and performance of the transactional data environment in DTCC. , Director Database Management in an individual contributor role, leads DTCC's transactional database management practices by providing hands on technical leadership as well as thought leadership on industry best practices. Provide guidance on the use of the tools and platforms for various use cases. Develops talent with deep expertise in database transaction management systems through coaching and mentoring.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Lead the transaction management database best practices on capacity and performance management on both on premise and public cloud.
  • Provide leadership for the overall technical architecture, engineering, design, implementation, and platform support
  • Research and evaluate broad emerging technology trends and how they impact the technology direction of the organization
  • Identify opportunities and provides guidance in design and implementation of data products.
  • Collaborates with engineers, companywide, to implement new features, at large-scale, while improving internal engineering standards, tooling, and processes
  • Builds cross-functional relationships with Product Managers and Software Engineers to understand and deliver on functionality and capability needs

Talents Needed for Success:
  • 12+ years of experience with Oracle and 5+ years of years of experience in Aurora PostgreSQL.
  • Deep expertise in performance management, troubleshooting and development of tools and processes to sustainably manage database performance
  • Expert in designing and implementing capacity management framework.
  • Ability to understand business use cases and provide guidance on the use of technology, replication and archival strategy, high availability, and DR solution options.
  • Thorough understanding of on-premises and public cloud infrastructure.
  • Competencies to build very strong partnerships with other technology leaders that enable DTCC to stay on the leading edge of industry solutions and tool sets.
  • Strong engineering and technology background and DevOps mindset with the ability to learn quickly and go deep into our product and engineering solutions
  • Skilled with leading troubleshooting & root cause analysis.
  • Superior customer relationship, written and verbal communications and presentation skills.
  • Ability to transition easily between big picture thinking and managing relevant detail
