Breeding - Team leads will be responsible for scanning and reporting every breed and farrow, they will also record the total on the Flash at the end of the day. Pig Champ will synchronize handhelds and update the Flash throughout the week. If there is any difference between the Flash and Pig Champ they will report the variance to the designated Team Lead. The team lead will then be responsible on finding the errors and reporting back to the Pig Champ. When the Breed Week is over, the Pig Champ will go back to scan all the breeds and compare them to their Breeder Herd Census. This will allow them to identify every sow that has not been reported with their new X1 Breed Date. Once all the breeds are in they will make new sow cards with their updated X1 event. The Team lead will then be responsible for hanging every new card and noting what sows are still missing a card. In order to completely close the Batch they will do a comparison between the Farrowing Control Chart and their Flash, at this point there should be no difference between the two reports.Farrowing - After the farrowing rooms have been filled, Pig Champ will scan every sow within those rooms. They will then set up the Excel Farrowing Spreadsheet, this should be done before any sow begins to farrow. After synchronizing the production information in the morning, they will update their spreadsheet. This will allow the Managers and the team to get a visual representation of the progression throughout the Batch. The farrowing team lead assigned to that specific area will scan every farrowing event and record the total on the Flash. If there is a difference between the Flash and Pig Champ, they will report to that designated team lead. The team lead will be held accountable for revising the information and correcting any errors. When the Farrow week has ended Pig Champ will compare all the sows to a Breeder Herd Census. At this point, every sow should have an event, (Open, Abort, Farrow, Dead). When the Batch is over they will send in a comparison between their Farrowing Control Chart to their Flash, there shouldn’t be any difference between the two reports.Gestation - Sows will be scanned before they get moved to gestation. Team lead will select the sows and pick up the sow cards, at the same time Pig Champ will be following the team lead while scanning every sow that has been selected. Once the quantity of the Pen is complete they will separate the cards and move on to the next pen. When all the sows have been designated a Pen, Pig Champ will gather up all the cards and set up a Spreadsheet that includes, (Sow IDs, Batch, and Due Dates). This will keep gestation organized and provide information on specific gestation Pens. Team leads will be responsible for keeping the spreadsheets up to date. If a sow Dies, Aborts, or Discharges they will note that on the Spreadsheet. When sows are ready to farrow, they will move all the sows along with the cards into Farrowing.Slow Week - Pig Champs will spend their time looking for any non-productive sows and any inactive sows. Once they have been found they will mark and separate them from the rest of the sows. They will be working on Making new Cards, Ear tagging, and Sending in Corrections. Although a Pig Champ does have their own responsibilities they are not just limited to Pig Champ, they need to prioritize their time accordingly. The Pig Champ will not only be available to their Managers, but to their coworkers too. Every Pig Champ can process, move sows, take out deads, etc. If they are caught up with all of their work, they need to be outside in the barns helping their team. There is no reason for a Pig Champ to be in the office if there is nothing to work on.Travel: Occasionally, within a 30 mile radiusRequired Qualifications: Strong communication and listening skills Good understanding of computer systems
