Purpose & Scope: This position is responsible for assisting the farm meet production goals while promoting safety and wellbeing of self and other team members. Adheres at all times to Animal Welfare and Bio-Security protocols, guidelines, and procedures at all times.Essential Responsibilities:
Basic sow/gilt handling: feeding/watering/moving
Operating machinery and equipment
Assisting with farrowing (birth)
Assist with breeding (artificial insemination)
Handling and using chemicals
Vaccinating and medicating sows and piglets
Cleaning, afterbirth, dead pigs, scraping
Ability to use computer equipment: hand held devices and electronic wands
Duties but not limit to:
Work with Data Tech on getting info to them, Daily info, Corrections
Treatment cards
Recording on information on cards
Ear tagging
Safety meetings
Animal welfare adherence
Power washing
Scraping feeders
Check feed system and fill lines
Maintenance reported to management
Stun gun use and maintenance
Housekeeping duties
Any other tasks asked by Assistant or Manager
Travel: Occasionally, within a 30 mile radiusRequired Qualifications: Be a team oriented, self-motivated and positive individual with strong work ethic
Ability to efficiently multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Ability to learn or already have technology knowledge: hand held devices/wand sows, and other equipment as necessary
Able to work every other weekend
Able to bend, push, grasp, and pull up to 60 lbs
Constant walking – 95% of day
Reliable method of transportation required
Able to work early 1 st shift hours
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with Bio-Security and swine production
