You know you were successful if:

  • You created and executed a multi-year strategic roadmap for instructional leadership centered around best in class initiatives leveraging data to implement strategies that promote and achieve a culture of excellence and high engagement through a diversity, equity and inclusion lens
  • You supported the design and implementation of a robust approach to retaining and developing our most important roles at KIPP Texas; School Leaders, future School Leaders, and future instructional leaders
  • You manage a team towards year over year improvement and responsiveness to the lived reality of our instructional leader pipeline

Metrics of Success:

  • Leadership Development

    • A vast majority of our instructional leader roles are filled with internal candidates (Goal: 85% of SLMs, SLs, PIRs)
    • Our leaders thrive and develop through specific development programs (Goal: 90% successful completion of key pipeline programs)
    • Our community lives into equity-based leadership (Goal: Leaders proficiently live into core behaviors of equity based leadership)
    • KIPP Texas has the premiere reward, recognition and compensation approach (Goal: 100% of leaders feel recognized and fairly compensated for their work)
    • The School Leader, PIR and AP community is thriving - measured through growth, achievement and engagement
  • Organizational Effectiveness

    • Deeply partner with schools to KIPP Texas commitment to anti-racism and equity based leadership through targeted, strategic support and analysis of key indicators (like TNTP, internal surveys, etc.)
    • Foster culture of coaching and development for all instructional leaders (Goal: Multi-year strategic plan and pilot execution as appropriate)
    • Support design and execution of full talent life cycle (matriculation, performance management, retention, etc.)

Leader Development:

  • Evolves and continually approves KIPP Texas’ approach to instructional leader development, with a particular focus on Assistant Principals, Principal-in-Residence, and School Leader roles
  • Ensures current and future School Leaders can thrive in their roles; receiving timely and developmentally appropriate coaching and development
  • Manage and coach a team of experienced Director(s) of Leader Development
  • Manage the design and execution of performance management for the instructional leadership team
  • Support the design and implementation of a comprehensive approach to rewards and recognition for the instructional leader pipeline
  • Create an implementation plan that moves each region from current state to ideal state for instructional leadership pipeline health and culture
  • Promote a positive and supportive work environment and instructional leader culture by developing and evolving programs and initiatives (e.g. internal communications, employee recognition moments, assistance with training) to support KIPP Texas’ big goals, mission and values.

Organizational Effectiveness:

  • Responsible for the overall cross-functional development, implementation and evaluation of School Leader and instructional leadership team employee engagement that align with the KIPP Texas’ goals, mission and vision.
  • Through cross-functional leadership, ensure instructional leader engagement experiences throughout the employee life cycle including talent acquisition, onboarding, orientation, performance management, training and education and professional development are streamlined and executed with fidelity.
  • Develops and implements current employee recognition strategies including but not limited to reviewing, evaluating and making recommendations for recognition programs.
  • Participates in ongoing analysis of key data by identifying trends and creating an exceptional employee experience throughout all stages of the employee life cycle.
  • Drive talent management and succession planning strategies to ensure KIPP Texas is providing challenging opportunities and advancement to the employees.
  • Design and implement organizational structures and operating models that elevate employee and organizational effectiveness.

Qualifications

Skills and Qualifications Required:

  • School Leadership experience required
  • School Leadership Management experience preferred
  • Excellent organizational, planning, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to set direction for a team, manage and motivate others to action
  • Demonstrated ability to create inclusive environments that honor and support a diversity of backgrounds and perspective
  • Demonstrated ability to think “outside the box” and to lead and manage change in a positive and inclusive manner and work effectively with a diverse student population
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information to various audiences
  • Bachelor degree required
  • Advanced degrees or participation in recognized professional learning (Example, Relay National Principal Fellowship) preferred
