We are building a new ECMO department to better serve our communities and are looking for the right person to help us build the best! Come join our Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) Team at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, a MAGNET facility!LOCATION: Texas Health Dallas is located at 8200 Walnut Hill Ln, Dallas, TX 75231SCHEDULE: Full Time Days (7A-7P) for 36 hrs./ week. On-Call with weekend and holiday requirementsDEPARTMENT HIGHLIGHTS:This role is an exciting opportunity to help develop a new ECMO unit. All ECMO patients will be managed in the CVICU which is a 24-bed intensive care unit that specializes in advanced Cardiac and Vascular surgical procedures. The ECMO team will respond to patients all over the hospital. We are excited to grow our team to provide eCPR to not only all patients at THD, but also the surrounding community. We have board-certified critical care physicians directly oversee patient care in the ICU throughout the day. Providers are on the unit 24 hours a day. A multidisciplinary team will work collaboratively to provide care in the CVICU. The staffing acuity is a 3:1 pump ratioHERE'S WHAT YOU WILL NEED:EDUCATION:· Associate Degree of Nursing, required· BSN PreferredEXPERIENCE:· 2 years of Critical Care experience in an Acute Care setting required (MICU, CICU, CCU, TICU, etc.)· ECMO experience preferredLICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS:· RN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required· CES-A—Certified ECMO Specialist- Adult—Preferred OR· E-AEC—Advanced ECMO Specialist CertificationPreferred· BLSBasic Cardiac Life Support—Prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly· ACLS—Advanced Cardiac Life Support—within 90 days of hire required· Completion of ECMO Training within 90 daysHERE’S WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:· Facilitates safe and orderly operation of extra-corporeal circuit according to ECMO protocol including but not limited to: drawing blood samples, administering medication, fluids and blood products, monitoring and intervening for circuit complication· Maintaining anticoagulation therapy; analyzing activated coagulation time (ACT), blood gas, chemistry panel, HGB/HCT, adjusting the gas and pump flow, monitoring, and maintaining dynamic pressures and blood flow of the circuit.· Assures complete documentation of ECMO records.· Provides effective instructions to patients and family members.· Manages rapid accurate decisions regarding severe diseases, chronic illness, death and dying with the ability to cope in these stressful situations.Entity HighlightsFor more than a half-century, Texas Health Dallas has been at the forefront of health care in North Texas.
