Location: Dallas, TX (or) Atlanta, GA (or) Bellevue, WA

Job DescriptionWe are looking for a MySQL DBA SME on Architecture side –An experienced MySQL database administrator who will be responsible for -
  • Providing database architecture design solution for enterprise projects, ensuring the performance, availability, and security of clusters of MySQL instances.
  • Setting up the database architecture standards and roadmap
  • Assisting orchestrating upgrades, backups, Capacity planning and provisioning of database instances.

Responsibilities
  • Achieves organizational goals by defining, integrating, and upgrading a comprehensive architecture to support applications, platforms, and databases.
  • Maintains database by determining structural requirements and developing and installing solutions.
  • Provides technical escalation expertise for database system problems
  • Provides design expertise for complex database solutions
  • Ensures security of all information and database systems and digital data.
  • Provision of MySQL instances in both InnoDB Cluster & NDB clusters and also in non-clustered environments.
  • Ensure performance, security, and availability of databases.
  • Prepare documentations and specifications
  • Handle common database procedures, such as upgrade, backup, recovery, migration, etc.
  • Profile server resource usage, optimize and tweak as necessary
  • Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders

Skills and Qualifications
  • Must have minimum 5+ years solid hands-on in MySQL and overall 10 + years as a DBA supporting Oracle / NoSQL
  • Strong proficiency in MySQL database management, preferably with experience using both Percona & Oracle enterprise editions.
  • Understanding of MySQL’s underlying storage engines, such as InnoDB and MyISAM
  • Experience in implementing a MySQL High Availability
  • Experience in the installation, configuration, and upgrading of MySQL software and related products
  • Strong knowledge of InnoDB cluster, group replication and NDB cluster.
  • Experience in setting up Master/Master and Master/Slave design
  • Strong experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting
  • Experience establishing and maintaining sound backup and recovery policies and procedures
  • Experience planning growth and changes (capacity planning)
  • Hands on experience with designing and implementing database replication strategies
  • Knowledge of de-facto standards and best practices in MySQL
  • Proficient in writing and optimizing SQL statements
  • Knowledge of MySQL features, such as its event scheduler
  • Knowledge of limitations in MySQL and their workarounds in contrast to other popular relational databases
  • Proficient understanding of code versioning tools such as git, BitBucket, Jenkins.

Education Minimum Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree. Computer Science/Technical equivalent experience
