ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and implement procedures for preventative, corrective, and emergency maintenance for ammonia refrigeration systems equipment and warehouse equipment.

Monitor preventive maintenance logs and check lists weekly.

Schedule and monitor work of outside contractors work as needed.

Requisition tools, equipment, and supplies.

Inspect completed work for conformance to blueprints, specifications, and standards.

Establish or adjust work procedures to meet company needs.

Interdepartmental communications and coordination with all operations areas to maintain proper, efficient work flow processes and scheduling.

Develop and maintain departmental budget for responsible area based on Senior Management approval.

Foster an environment that encourages associate involvement, commits to quality of work from self and others, and provides leadership for mutual benefit of the company, customers, and associates.

Ensure that all required associate records, evaluations, and related documentation are filed in a timely, consistent, and accurate manner.

Act as a problem solver for associate relation issues and department needs.

Responsible for appearance, maintenance, and security of warehouse and equipment.

Observe and enforce all safety rules in an effort to reduce accidents and injuries.

Support the safety effort by participating on the safety committee and working with the safety manager to resolve safety issues.

Understand and comply with all applicable company policies (i.e. attendance, Code of Business Conduct & Ethics, Associate Handbook etc).

Ensure compliance with all applicable State/Federal laws, regulations, and policies (i.e. OSHA (Occupational Health and Safety Admin.), HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points), AIB (American Institute of Baking), etc.).

Back up manager in his/her absence.

Accept additional responsibilities or special projects as requested.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESResponsible for providing direction and leadership for two to fourteen maintenance personnel, as well as ongoing communication of related status and issues to upper management. Determine and provide training and development of maintenance staff members as needed. Assist in personnel recruitment to fulfill maintenance staffing requirements. Responsible for associate performance evaluations of immediate subordinates on a semi-annual basis for the purpose of communicating and properly documenting expectations and evaluations of the staff. Provide ongoing feedback on the performance of subordinates and the department by monitoring activities and reports.QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEBachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university preferred; or five years maintenance related experience and/or training, specifically in ammonia refrigeration; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Five years experience in Maintenance at the Supervisory level, specifically in ammonia refrigeration.LANGUAGE SKILLSMust be articulate and effective with written and verbal communication with individuals of broadly varying backgrounds and educational levels.MATHEMATICAL SKILLSMust have mastery of general math, algebra, and geometry.REASONING ABILITYIt is expected that the incumbent will be able to work in a proactive manner, address issues, and solve problems by using previous education and experience in identifying appropriate actions. Problems will vary in complexity and there will not always be a clearly defined solution. Some solutions may require modifying past applications or creating a solution unique to the current situation but within the regulations that would apply.CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSCertification on material handling equipment or ability to become certified. Required to complete supervisory training program.
