Cable Technician
Job Overview
Technician will complete any necessary onsite cabling as well as complete a network upgrade in a single onsite visit. Technician will complete all deliverable materials and communicate daily with the project manager.
100% Travel may be required. General tools (listed below) will be the responsibility of the technician. Technician will be reimbursed for travel expenses. Some work will be completed after hours.
Responsibilities
-Install/De-Install network switches
-Install/De-Install PCs, Servers, and peripheral equipment
-Complete telecommunications cabling within NEC/ANSI/TIA/EIA standards
-Travel to sites (extended travel may be required)
-Responsible for maintaining and delivering accurate and detailed documentation and system information for projects.
-Responsible for problem resolution and troubleshooting related to system installations
-Coordinating with customers, end users, and other field installers technician
-Submit reports summarizing daily status and progress
-Maintaining a set schedule for site completion
Requirements
-This position requires self-direction and a high level of motivation. It also requires a commitment and desire to satisfy clients by completing all work at the highest level.
-Must be self-motivated with good time management skills
-Knowledge of telecommunications cabling standards and installation techniques is required
-Ability to be creative and overcome challenging cable installation circumstances
-Basic professional computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word are required
-Knowledge of networking including installation, decommission, and troubleshooting of routers, switches, and firewalls.
-3 to 5 years working in a professional setting with telecommunications cabling
-2 to 5 years working in a professional setting with PC and networking
