Role: Sr. Java/AWS Developer Location: Remote / Dallas, TX (Role is 100% remote to start, will need to travel for occasional PI planning in 2022) Duration: 1 year open-ended Contract Project details: Team will work in Aircraft Operation segment of Southwest Airlines which handles the systems required for the aircraft to fly. Applications are currently being integrated into the cloud, using AWS. Top priorities for the ideal candidate: 1) thinking, 2) technology and someone who can hit the ground running, 3) embodies Southwest culture Looking for Java developers with hands-on AWS Serverless development using the following: Must Have:
- Strong logic, algorithm and analytical skills for problem solving
- Core Java
- Spring
- Docker
- Jenkins
- AWS
- Experience with EC2, AWS API on Java, CloudFormation templates
- Kubernetes
- AWS API on Python
- AWS API on Javascript
- AWS - Kinesis, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, Lambdas (huge plus)
- Understand current infrastructure and stack in order to employ best AWS solutions
- Design and implement cost-effective migration strategies
- Create different AWS services such as API, RDS instance and Lambda to build a serverless application
- Create reusable, effective, and scalable code
- Identify bottlenecks and bugs in the system and develop solutions
- Conducting software analysis, testing, updating, and debugging
- Test and update application so that it can be used on all web browsers
- 5+ years of professional experience in core AWS services
- Deep understanding of core AWS services, uses, and AWS architecture best practices
- Highly proficient in one or more languages from our stack (Java 8)
- Proficient understanding of AWS services (e.g. S3, EC2, Lambda, Glacier, SNS, EBS, CloudFront, SQS, VPC, Kinesis, and Elastic Beanstalk, etc)
- Able to use a CI/CD pipeline to deploy applications on AWS
