Job Description
Provide overall management direction for commercial construction projects including managing the construction team and subcontractors, owner and design team relations, and integrating the overall safety, schedule, quality and budget phases of the project.
Responsibilities
Plan, schedule, coordinate and supervise all construction activities from contract award to turnover
Develop functional understanding of all contract documents (plans, specifications)
Establish project objectives (safety, schedule, quality, budget)
Perform and oversee contract administration (subcontracts, purchase orders, pay requests, change orders)
Secure all required permits
Establish and monitor processes, safety procedures, work rules and policies for all on-site activities
Assemble, train and direct construction team (project engineers, superintendents, assigned labor)
Manage all project resources (construction team, subcontractors, materials, equipment, information)
Represent company in project meetings
Collaborate with construction team, subcontractors, architects/engineers, and clients
Review job costs on a regular basis
Examine and inspect work progress to verify safety and quality
Identify challenges and develop/implement corrective actions
Provide regular updates on progress of projects (written and verbal)
Additional responsibilities as assigned
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree (engineering, construction science, architecture or equivalent)
3+ years management experience in the commercial construction industry
Solid judgement and effective problem-solving/decision-making skills
Strong negotiating and leadership skills
Outstanding customer service
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Effective written and verbal communication skills (Spanish+)
Thorough knowledge of the construction industry including building codes, permits and regulations
Basic understanding of construction law and project estimating and accounting
Detailed focus on safety, schedule, quality and budget
Strong computer skills
Familiar with construction, project management and scheduling software
Able to make presentations and conduct meetings and training sessions
Able to work independently with a strong personal initiative, taking ownership of work
Proven track record of results and a reputation for completing quality projects on time and in budget
Past experience with high-rise construction projects a plus
Able to perform under pressure and meet deadlines
Able to pass criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen
Working Conditions
