POSITION PURPOSEThe Information Security Analyst I role comprises several functions related to the information security, including configuration of systems and security infrastructure components. The function serves as the foundation for information security in the processing environment to ensure the adherence to our Security Policies and Standards and to monitor for and react to security incidents. The Information Security Analyst I requires knowledge of security principles, a wide range of security and computing technologies, enterprise-wide security administration, knowledge and proficiency in penetration testing reports, knowledge and proficiency in firewall and IDS principles. The Information Security Analyst works together with the Vice President of Information Technology to develop policies and procedures and implements as required. The Security Analyst I will also be responsible for working with end-users to determine needs of individual departments, implements policies or procedures, tracks compliance through the organization and reviewing IT related audits and exams in order to tracking all findings to closure. 1. Assumes responsibility for the efficient, effective and accurate performance of Information Security I Position. a. Trains end-users and promotes security awareness to ensure system security and to improve server and network efficiency. b. Develops plans to safeguard computer files against accidental or unauthorized medication, destruction, or disclosure and to meet emergency data processing needs. c. Monitors current reports of computer viruses to determine when to update virus protection systems. d. Monitors use of data files and regulates access to safeguard information in computer files. e. Performs risk assessments and executes tests of data processing systems to ensure functioning of data processing activities and security measures. f. Ensures data transmissions are encrypted and firewall configurations are up to date to conceal and protect confidential information. g. Performs analysis of all firewall and IDS rules (new, modified and deleted) to ensure that our perimeter defenses are configured and secure from unintended access. 2. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective professional business relations with internal and external members. a. Provides assistance, support and training to end-users as required. b. Keeps management informed of activities and of any significant problems or concerns. Provides suggestions for improved service. c. Ensures that interactions with end-users are clear, courteous and understandable. d. Communicates as much information as possible to end-users, including reasons for problems, project status and deadlines. e. Acts as a consultant and resource to end-users. EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Successful completion of CompTIA Security + Certification within 6 months of hire
Or
  • Associate’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CompTIA Security + Certification required.
  • Microsoft Certifications preferable.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE:
  • Thorough understanding of information systems.
  • Knowledge of transmission, broadcasting, switching, control and operation of telecommunications systems.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
  • 3 years in information security field.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and complete tasks without direct supervision.
  • Well organized.
  • Basic Project Management abilities.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to assist and train others.
  • Able to use PC, terminal keyboards and various computer hardware.
  • Critical Thinking Skills using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Must be able to demonstrate established competency levels for all required regulatory or compliance-related processes and/or procedures within established timeframes of appointment.
