OverviewThe position will lead a team of exempt and non-exempt employees that are responsible for timely and accurate transaction processing, analysis and reporting in the Retail Fuel Accounting department.Responsibilities
Lead and supervise a team of exempt and non-exempt employees.
Establish and maintain an efficient and effective set of review steps and operational controls to ensure team is operating within protocols.
Provide feedback to team members and to management as needed when procedures are not being followed.
Common business processes and reconciliation, shortage and GP investigation and analysis, reconciliations, and reporting.
Be knowledgeable across the broad range of business functions of the entire Retail Accounting Process by supporting the Manager.
Provide and implement recommendations to management in the design and implementation of various process improvements to support scalable business growth.
Understand and accurately communicate current-state business processes, including existing obstacles and inefficiencies.
Consider alternative solutions and provide recommendations to management.
Perform and review journal entries to ensure staff is accurately applying the relevant accounting principles.
Perform and review balance sheet account reconciliations to ensure staff is providing adequate support; reconciling items are investigated and resolved timely.
Supervise staff in resolving system and / or processing issues.
Respond to monthly, quarterly, and annual audit requests from internal and external auditors.
Prepare and present fuel forecast, shortage and GP reporting and other various reporting and analysis.
Participate in special projects as directed.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelors/4-Year Degree,CPA is a plus
Experience: 5+ years, Fuel accounting experience preferred.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills are required to independently understand and appropriately respond to a variety of business process issues.
The position requires strong computer skills. Microsoft Office programs (particularly Word and Excel) are heavily used.
Knowledge of accounting systems, database concepts and SQL is useful.
The ability to effectively address employee performance issues by appropriately using both positive and negative reinforcement techniques will be essential to the success of this position.
Strong organizational skills are required to identify and prioritize deadlines across multiple assignments.
Understanding of GAAP relevant to purchases, sales and inventory is required.
