The Boeing Company is looking for a Product Owner - Open Source Program Office to join our team in Chicago, IL, Colorado Springs, CO, El Segundo, CA, Huntington Beach, CA, Long Beach, CA, Mesa, AZ, Plano, TX, San Antonio, or Seal Beach CA. The Open Source Program Office (OSPO) is a new team at Boeing and growing rapidly. Our mission is to champion open source engagement across the enterprise and deliver a world class open source management experience with flawless compliance. To fulfill that mission, we are looking for a Product Owner to manage priorities, create requirements, and deliver business value working closely with the development team and stakeholders.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Create and refine the OSPO backlog and roadmap
  • Create user stories and acceptance criteria
  • Lead iteration planning events and coordinate planning with other Agile Release Trains (ARTs)
  • Work with the development team and architects to plan enablers
  • Partner with organizations across the enterprise and build strong relationships to fulfill common goals
  • Actively seek feedback from customers and stakeholders and lead continuous improvement efforts
  • Create release notes and other communications
  • Use data to inform decisions and trade-offs
  • Measure and improve predictability and business value delivery

This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • 4+ years of experience working with Agile and SAFe methodology
  • 2+ years of experience in managing or supporting large projects, working with many stakeholders, including stakeholders in different cultures
  • 2+ years of experience in cultural understanding of the OSS (Open Source Software) ecosystem, including OSS licenses and their use within commercial products
  • 1+ years of experience in developing and communicating product vision; capturing and modeling end-user and stakeholder needs (functional & non-functional) to lead backlog refinement and product development

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
  • Experience with binary artifact repositories such as Artifactory and Nexus
  • Knowledge of SCA tools like X-Ray, Black Duck, or similar
  • Experience with with standards such as SPDX and CycloneDX
  • Experience with DevSecOps, cloud native development, and software factories
  • Track record of delivering value early and often

Typical Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree and typically 9 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a Master's degree with typically 7 or more years' experience in an engineering classification or a PhD degree with typically 4 or more years' experience in an engineering classification. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
