SummaryAbout the Position: Develop, coordinate, plan, and execute training exercises. Incumbent is responsible for the development of training events that meet COCOM strategic objectives and train commanders and staff principals in the decision making process in both the crisis action and deliberate planning processes across all levels of command; strategic, operational, tactical. Term NTE 24 Months obligated positionResponsibilitiesDevelops scenario and exercise objectivesWrites and develops operations orders, rules of engagements, scenario supporting documents and databases, maps all manner of documents and databases to support the exercise scenario as appropriate.Develops the scenario and all scenario related materials for the United States Army South (ARSOUTH) conducted, United States Southern Command (USSOUTHCOM) sponsored, Joint Command Staff (JCS) exercise program.Supports the scenario for multiple command post exercises (CPXs) and Tabletop/STAFFEX Exercise.Multiple scenarios are based on United Nations operations and others are based on Central American and Caribbean disaster relief/Humanitarian Assistance scenarios.Designs, plans, rehearses, and executes exercise activities.Develops and implements action plans for providing comprehensive technical support during each CPX activity as well as during associated planning conferences and data base tests.Designs, builds, and operates databases for DoD computer models, and perform verification, validation, and accreditation of vulnerability assessment models andsimulations.RequirementsConditions of EmploymentQualificationsWho May Apply: Only applicants who meet one of the employment authority categories below are eligible to apply for this job. One year of specialized experience which includes development of training events and scenarios for exercises based on disaster relief/ humanitarian assistance scenarios, that meet strategic objectives and train commanders and staff principals in the decision making process in both the crisis action and deliberate planning processes across all levels of command; strategic, operational, tactical. Coordinating After Action Review planning conferences, producing summary reports, recommending improvements to mission. Developing a Maser Scenario Event list that will create a realistic experience of command post operations. Providing technical support during training exercises to include databases, web interface applications, and verification, validation, and accreditation of vulnerability assessment models and simulations. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:Education and TrainingOrganizational Performance AnalysisProgram ManagementTechnology ApplicationWriting Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).EducationAdditional InformationPosition may be filled as a temporary promotion, temporary reassignment, or temporary change to lower grade NTE24 Months by a current permanent Army employee. Temporary promotions, reassignments, or change to lower grades may be extended up to a maximum of 5 years, and may be made permanent without further competition. Position may be filled as a term appointment NTE 24 Months if the candidate is not a current permanent Army employee. Term appointments may be extended up to a maximum of 6 years.
