Job Description

SUMMARY:

Responsible to provide day-to-day administrative and professional HR support relating to all phases of the employee life cycle (e.g. hiring, time keeping, training, employee relations).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Administer payroll and time keeping for hourly and salaried employees
  • Conduct employee onboarding and organize training & development initiatives
  • Administer employee recognition programs, i.e. seniority awards
  • Provide administrative support with employee performance reviews
  • Create standard and ad hoc reports as needed, i.e. headcount, employee roster, turnover. Develop new reporting as needed.
  • Maintain employee files and records in electronic and paper form
  • Update HRIS system in an accurate and timely manner
  • Organize and execute employee relations events, i.e. diversity celebration, family picnics.
  • Apply and interpret policies and procedures to basic and complex employment issues. Ensure compliance to State and Federal laws.
  • Provide guidance to supervisors and managers regarding employee relations, disciplinary actions, terminations, and handling serious policy violations. Conduct investigations and recommend solutions.
  • Provide HR administrative support for employees and supervisors regarding benefits, policies and procedures, leaves of absence, payroll, and any other HR related questions.
  • Support recruiting activities for office and professional personnel, as well as skilled and unskilled labor. This includes drafting of job posting, scheduling interviews, organizing and attending job fairs, interacting with staffing agencies and search firms.
  • Translateemployee communications and interpreteither Vietnamese or Spanish.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Business Management or other related field

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5 or more years experience in an HR Generalist or Specialist role, preferably in a manufacturing environment with federal contractor or subcontractor status desired
  • Professional HR certification (PHR or SHRM-CP) preferred
  • Bilingual Spanish or Vietnamese desired
  • Proficient in MS Office Excel (create and modify spreadsheets with formulas, sorting, filtering, pivot tables, graphs)
  • Proficient in MS Office Word (create and modify word documents, including mail merge, labels, formatting of pages and paragraphs, tables)
  • Proficient in MS PowerPoint (create and modify PowerPoint presentations, including formatting design and layout, animation, inserting pictures, linking to tables)
  • Working knowledge or HRIS and time-keeping systems
  • Work independently and with little supervision
  • Diligent, efficient, and organized work habits
  • Excellent oral and written communication at all levels of the organization and with third parties
  • Strong interpersonal skills, role model for ITW values and Leadership Expectations
  • Ability to use good judgment and discretion with highly confidential business and employee information.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must be able to:

  • Perform activities including bending, stooping, standing, walking
  • Stand and walk from two (2) to four (4) hours per day
  • Climb up and down stairs four (4) to six (6) times per day
  • Operate common office equipment, i.e. PC, phone, copier, printer, fax
  • Work in climate controlled environment
  • Work occasionally outdoors in temperatures ranging from hot to cold
  • Travel infrequently by various means of transportation, including car, train, bus, plane
