Job Description

As a Rail Geotechnical Engineer with Olsson, you will perform geotechnical engineering design, project proposal and management duties with integrity and a drive to succeed. You will also complete various site assessments, design calculations, travel to projects for support, inspection, and construction management support. You will arrange and provide support for field operations related to geotechnical drilling, sample recovery and site instrumentation. You will be required to ensure extremely high client service by effectively communicating, providing constructible designs, meeting deadlines and creating clear communications with our clients. This role has a flexible work environment with optionsto work from home and a wage adjustment based on experience. Travel expectations for this position will vary with an estimated average of about 45%. All travel costs are paid for by the company. This person should be expected to work efficiently and independently while providing professional services to the highly motivated Class 1 railroad industry. This is a fast paced industry that is always ready to respond to the needs of the railroad industry to keep America moving.

  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to contribute and work well on a team
  • Bachelor's Degree in civil/geotechnical engineering
  • Must be a registered professional engineer or able to obtain licensure
  • 5+ years of related Geotechnical analysis and design experience
  • The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner
