Operations Team Manager

Job Description:

Document Imaging and Indexing (DII) receives thousands of items a day from USPS, Federal Express and United States Postal Service, plus internal mail from other banking sites that have to be sorted, received, prepped for imaging and then routed out using high capacity scanners. This first-level operations management position, reporting to the Operations Manager, oversees a unit/section of the company's internal operations activities. May manage multiple functions within an area and may have Team Leads reporting to them. Key responsibilities include supervision of associates in their day-to-day functions of resolving problems and executing transactions within specific operations units requiring immediate and frequent involvement with unit activities. Other key responsibilities will include motivating, coaching and developing associates to achieve optimal performance results. Performs all managerial functions, leads project work, and continually utilizes independent judgment. Less than 50% of time is spent doing actual production work. Typically 3-5 years of Operations experience.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am-4:30pm CST

Requirements:
  • Must have 2 or more direct reports.
  • Physical /requirements/demands of Work Environment
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to bend and move about the production floor, to reach various parts of the production equipment, as needed, while adhering to safety and ergonomic guidelines
  • Ability to push/pull/lift up to 40 lbs. as required throughout each shift
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and meet deadlines and work standards. The position requires an individual who is production and quality focused and who is capable of working in a high volume and demanding continuous production environment.
  • Ability to work on a computer for extended periods of the day and navigate multiple systems.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively (both verbally and written), tailor communications to audience, and actively listen.
  • Professional Demeanor: Ability to conduct self with patience, composure and appropriate attitude.

Production Management Responsibilities Skills:
  • Identifies, documents, and drives departmental performance to meet metrics for Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Waste standards for a specific team
  • Delivers communication and drives departmental performance goals through engaging the team and ensuring understanding while equipping and empowering them with the tools and resources needed
  • Establish clear accountability for the team's work; Drive compliance with all operational organization leaders
  • Collaborate and proactively communicate with Operations Manager regarding staffing, team member issues, equipment updates, production issues or changes in schedule
  • Strives to maintain seamless communication with leadership and direct reports
  • Perform general supervisory responsibilities such as interviewing, administering performance reviews, approving time and attendance, compliance with quality and safety procedures, etc.
  • Continually improve safety record by addressing both physical safety issues and employee safety attitudes; Maintain and improve housekeeping in all areas
  • Timely delivery of quality exception feedback; Ensure that exceptions/errors are reviewed within the appropriate time frame to allow for timely feedback and performance coaching
  • Identify root cause and remediation through trending and improve overall quality exception findings
  • Plans, manages, and adjusts workload and monthly schedules to optimize production resources, meet scheduled commitments and development of people
  • Individuals at this level are expected to use some independence of thought but to refer more complex problems to Subject Matter Expert or Team Manager.
