As a member of an Agile Scrum team, the Product Owner serves as a collaborative liaison between the Product Management and Product Delivery teams; aligning the teams' vision and direction, prioritizing and evaluating work, and delivering high-impact customer experiences. This individual provides thought leadership and execution excellence through the adoption and promotion of a Customer First approach to achieve high-value outcomes. The Product Owner is integral in the culmination of Product, UX, and Architectural strategies that align to execution.

Responsibilities

JOB DUTIES

  • The PO works under general guidance and consistently delivers on commitments
  • Work collaboratively with the Program/Product Manager to communicate the roadmap initiatives to the teams that result in great experiences for our customers
  • Maintaining the product/team backlog, leading backlog prioritization of initiatives, aligning experiences across channels and touchpoints to ensure the best business results
  • Identify and execute optimization opportunities and to drive continuous product improvement
  • Partner with your Agile team to maximize the delivery of value and streamline the execution of program priorities
  • Work with the Agile Scrum team to craft high quality customer-centric user stories that exceed customer expectations
  • Responsible for prioritizing the team backlog in partnership with the team and product management
  • Collaborate with Architecture team(s) to understand enabling work to ensure optimal delivery of value for business customers
  • Manage product performance using key information, processes and systems to ensure accountability for achieving business results
  • Using data to make more informed decisions to ensure accountability for achieving business results
  • Ensure clear communication and coordination across business and IT teams to manage the scope of each product launch for on-time delivery of key features
  • Accept stories as done with guidance and participate in demonstrations of the work delivered at the end of the sprint to stakeholders
  • Invest in the Agile process to continuously improve product quality, time to market, and team member happiness
  • Display knowledge of a Design Thinking mindset when exploring problems
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Conform with all company policies and procedures

Qualifications

Knowledge

  • Practice in delivering best in class product experiences utilizing Design Thinking and Lean methodologies
  • Understanding of Vision/Roadmap creation, Portfolio/Program/Team Backlog creation, refinement and prioritization
  • Comprehension of the Agile principles and methodologies and how they are applied in the workplace
  • Ability to work within a matrix organization, collaborating with business stakeholders, user experience teams, project managers, product managers, developers and others
  • Record of project execution, completing and shipping excellent products on time and on budget
  • Knowledge of GM Financial core business functions, information systems and operations systems for supported business groups

Skills

  • Good interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), cross-collaboration skills
  • Problem solver who can clearly identify, analyze, and resolve issues as they arise
  • Promotes best practices
  • Cultivates innovation and learning
  • Intermediate in the use SQL to support reporting, problem identification and resolution
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Intermediate persuasive and negotiation skills
  • Intermediate presentation skills

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Bachelor's Degree in related field, or equivalent work or military experience preferred

Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in a relevant role required
  • 2-4 years of experience in software support preferred
  • 2-4 years of experience in a leadership role preferred
  • Experience as a Product Owner or in a similar role preferred
  • Experience in an Agile team preferred

Licenses

  • Agile certification (PSPO, CSP-PO, or POPM/APM) preferred

Working Conditions

  • Subject to stressful situations
  • Possibility of working long hours may be required
  • Limited travel may be required to support business needs
