Full-Time Opportunity for a
Sr. Operations Research Specialist to work with a leader in their field within their Advanced Analytics Group. Our client is based in Fort Worth, TX and will require the chosen person to work on-site towards the end of 2021, but only at a 50% capacity(2 days/week).About Our Team:- The Unified Data and Advanced Analytics group is responsible for finding solutions to some of the many challenging problems facing the railroad.

- As a member of the Operations Research Group, you will be responsible for finding solutions to some of the many challenging problems facing our industry. Duties include:
- Assist Operations Research team with optimization model development, testing, and implementation
- Develop software for decision support tools to help solve business problems
- Collaborate with members of Technology Services teams (OR and Development) on solution design and bug fixes
- Keeping current with the advances in analytical techniques, including open source libraries
- Interfacing with Technology Services personnel to understand existing data structures and IT processes
- Working with end-users to validate and enhance the tools
- Extracting and cleaning large volumes of data to derive insights that can be used for process improvements.
- Identifying solution techniques and implementing them independently, with external vendors, through academic alliances, or with BNSF Technology Services teams
- Identifying and initiating new projects part of technology initiatives
- Communicating status and findings to senior management and key stakeholders
- Master’s degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science or a related field; PhD preferred for Sr. level or Masters with related experience
- Practical experience applying quantitative techniques to solve real-world problems
- Strong programming skills in an object-oriented programming language, such as Python, Java, C, or VB.Net
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to identify underlying problems and appropriate techniques for solving them
- Ability to manipulate and extract information from very large, complex data sets
- Familiar with commercial solver software, such as CPLEX, FICO, Gurobi, ProMod or Anylogic or Frontline Solver; expertise required for Sr. level
