Job Description

Title: Staff Software ArchitectLocation: Ft. WorthType: Contract to hire

Our fortune 100 client seeks a Staff Software Architect for their Fort Worth office. The person in this positionwill provide technical leadership in the architecting and development of large network centric software products. Architect will work with systems, software, cyber and networking engineers to develop large software products for our customers. Architect will be expected to work with customer teams to understand problems and needs. Architect will be expected to provide to collaborate with customers, affiliates and internal stakeholders to create solutions that will differentiate the client in the US market.

Responsibilities
  • Lead system architecture development for C4I products aimed at the US market. Collaborate with team members to determine best practices and product requirements. Work collaboratively with systems infrastructure, AI/Client and security engineers to provide best overall system design. Provide technical reviews and design approval of products before deployment to customers.
  • Provide leadership to evolve global product lines in collaboration with company affiliates in other countries.
  • Provide leadership in communicating product architecture and capabilities to customers
  • Provide leadership in developing responses to customer initiatives and solicitations.
  • Lead the technology stack update process. Bring relevant technologies and processes into the product line as appropriate to advance our products and services. Provide leadership in awareness of technical and industry innovations and drive continual improvement in capabilities with latest available tools, technologies and processes.
  • Provide leadership in collaborating with 3rd-party development teams, including customer developers, on the platform in the aim of building a strong community around the company's platform.
  • Willing and capable of deep dive troubleshooting of technical issues impacting software system functional operation and/or system performance. Able to lead team to investigate issues and develop fixes or appropriate mitigations.
  • Provide coaching and training of team members to help develop and grow engineering organization.
  • The Architect is expected to demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills and have the ability to work well with people at all levels.
  • The Architect is required to maintain robust relationships with the business unit peers and engineering functional management as well as with appropriate counter parts in the company's affiliate companies and key subcontractors and partners.

Qualifications -
  • 10+ years of relevant development experience (Homeland Security and/or Defense Department experience preferred). Familiarity with Industry standards (MIL Specs, DO178).
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.

  • Hands on experience in agile software development, designing big data system architectures, and modern digital technology stack: cloud-based architecture, micro services, Web technology.
  • Knowledgeable in secure development & cyber security consideration and its implications on system architecture based on industry-specific specifications.
  • Proficiency with Java, PHP, C/object-oriented programs, SQL, web application development, security and open source technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience designing big data system architectures on Windows OS platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience developing solutions on Linux platforms.
  • Provide thorough, accurate information to answer customers' questions and to meet commitment times or performance guarantees.
  • Actively look for ways to help customers by identifying and proposing appropriate solutions and/or services, adjusting services based on customer feedback.
  • An understanding of how to direct programs & projects in close partnership with program leadership
  • Ability to lead and inspire department staff to accomplish successful business results by working effectively in teams while solving technical problems.
  • Recognized leadership abilities and willingness to take initiative.
  • Treat managers and peers with respect.
  • Ability to communicate to senior management with suggestions and critical feedback.
  • Advanced knowledge of the defense, military and homeland security industry.
  • Ability to estimate cost of development activities.
  • Be able to develop and generate a number of different approaches to problems.
  • Observe and evaluate the outcomes of implementing the solution to assess the need for alternative approaches and to identify lessons learned.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or relevant technical discipline required with advanced technical degree(s) preferred.
