Description: Lockheed Martin is seeking a Senior Level Materials and Process Engineer with experience in High Temperature Materials to join our creative team of engineers within our Mechanical Engineering Dept. The candidate will have the opportunity to be involved in some of Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control’s highly innovative and ingenious solutions to complex technical problems facing the aerospace industry.This exciting work will include combinations of Materials and Processing Engineering with performing material selections, surface treatment evaluation, high temperature coating / high temperature material analysis, design and failure investigations in support of our Hypersonic programs. The main Roles and Responsibilities of this position are as follows: Analyze, research, test, design and develop materials and their related fabrication and application processes to develop and optimize materials for use in engineering design of and/or application in Missile structures, systems and subsystems operating at Supersonic to Hypersonic Mach speeds. Applies principles of chemistry, physics, and material behavior to develop metallic, non-metallic and composite material and processing specifications, fabrication and assembly processes. Develops, analyzes and applies material properties and design allowables, processing processes and quality engineering specifications. Material analyses may include failure analysis of components, systems and subsystems, life predictions, and definition and requirement specifications.Also to Provide Materials & Processes Engineering support for missile and canister development efforts, material selection and material testing in conjunction with using Microsoft Office tools. Tasks will include material evaluation of both missile and canister components and subassemblies, evaluation of material incompatibilities and evaluating and creating material protection requirements. Tasks will also include reviewing and signing off on drawings, writing / reviewing engineering specifications and statements of work, as well as creating M&P support documentation.The selected candidate will also provide High Temperature Materials support and development for Hypersonic missile and re-entry bodies, coordination and communication of development efforts with specialized material vendors as required, support and or lead material test planning and performance testing of metallic and non-metallic materials, and material selection(s) based on all environments and predicted flight conditions. Tasks will include material evaluation and analysis of both missile, components and subassemblies, evaluation of material incompatibilities and evaluating and creating material protection requirements.Additionally, the candidate will provide technical documentation and input to data packages to support peer and customer reviews, present analysis data to program and customer personnel at technical interchange meetings, and design reviews. The candidate will also be interfacing and coordinating efforts with Structural Stress Engineers, Mechanical Designers, Thermal Engineers, Material & Process Engineers, Environments Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Laboratory Test Engineers, Production Operations, Subcontractor Management and other departments.Basic Qualifications:Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret Clearance.Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science, Metallurgy or other related field with 14 years of professional experience; or 12 years of professional experience with a related Master’s degree.Candidate MUST have the ability to travel and be willing to work off-sight as needed for assignments.Experience or exposure to material characterization testing (ie. SEM, EDX).Desired Skills:Active Department of Defense Secret Clearance.Experience with Hypersonic environment specifications and evaluating materials based on those requirements.Excellent writing and verbal communication skills for generating M&P support documentation, material test plans, material and process reports, and potentially proposals are necessary.Candidate must be capable of performing in a fast paced, dynamic environment, and working in an inclusive, team environment.Candidate must have strong analytical and organizational skills.Experience with Hypersonic Missile components and subassemblies.Experience with Carbon – Carbon material fabrication, material selection, material testing, and material testing processes.Experience with evaluating and developing Hypersonic material protection requirements.Experience with reading and interpreting blueprints, machine drawings, 2-D drawings, CAD drawings and material callouts and/or material processing note requirements.Proven leadership with demonstrated interpersonal skills.Familiarity with Missile programs at MFC, is a plus.Experience with Lockheed Martin M&P standards and the PLM drawing release process is a plus.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:job.QualificationsLockheed Martin is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
