We have a work hard, play hard attitude and meaningful involvement in local communities.TIC-The Industrial Company Seeking A Civil ForemanPosition Summary: Direct and supervise the daily planning, quantity tracking in the field, review of site layout versus the plans, and recognize changes/conflicts in a variety of civil/earthwork operations. Operations include mass excavations and embankments, slope grading, roadway excavations and fine-grading, flatwork grading, traffic barrier support, demolition of bridges/structures, and other operations requiring support from the civil crews. Position requires expectations of crews to be discussed and disciplinary actions when needed. Civil foreman should help motivate their crews to work safely, correctly, and as efficiently as possible. Foreman may also be required to assist crews with labor assistance to help progress the work.Essential Functions:

Use effective verbal and written communication skills. Add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers and fractions rapidly and accurately.

Plan, sketch, and communicate haul routes for incoming deliveries and legal trucks.

Read and understand plans and specifications. Visualize potential design and constructability issues ahead of the operation.

Be able to sit with field engineer and superintendent on creating workplans for specific operations and provide field experience to make an effective plan.

Use and understand survey gear such as rovers, total stations, and GPS gear on equipment.

With regard to that portion of the work assigned, develop complete understanding of contract plans and specifications, lay-out, installation and/or repair forms, rebar-templates and embeds in accordance with those plans and specifications.

Examine/inspect field conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost saving measures that arise or that may be encountered. Take corrective actions as needed.

Inspect subordinate's work for compliance with the contract plans and specifications, point out deficiencies and explain and take any corrective action needed.

Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Be able to identify the good operators and be able to communicate to the superintendent the operators/laborers that are a potential risk to the crew or would not add production.

Observe functioning of installed equipment or systems to determine hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.

Lift and carry heavy items weighing up to 50 pounds or more.

Move in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven areas. Full range of motion and flexibility.

Work up to a 12-hour shift doing hard physical labor in varying temperature extremes and other outside conditions.

Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds.

Be able to perform all of the essential functions of craft workers under his/her supervision. Task may require you to operate smaller equipment or pick up handheld tools (i.e. shovels, rakes, etc.) to assist crew. Plan the tasks to safely and efficiently carry out all aspects of that work assigned. Train/teach safety practices, policies and procedures related to an employee's assigned tasks. Conduct tool box meetings and communicate safety concerns, work scope, plans and schedules to the lead-man and crews. Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards. Be able to write task specific hazard analysis’ and communicate it with Superintendent and other crews in the area. Plan and communicate purchasing of tools, materials and equipment with superintendent and field engineer. Review crew's timecards for correct hours and phase coding daily with field engineer. Timecards need to be detailed with notes on location, stations, rework, delays, etc. Monitor and report quantities of work accomplished on a daily and weekly basis. Keep track of load counts, material delivery tickets, and outside rent truck tickets to turn into field engineer at the end of the shift.

Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective action to eliminate or minimize hazards. Be able to write task specific hazard analysis’ and communicate it with Superintendent and other crews in the area.

Understand and respond appropriately to all safety hazards and warning devices (i.e. back up alarms, smell of smoke, different colored warning tags, warning sirens).

Produce high quality work, meeting requirements of plans, specifications and industry standards.

Be motivated and work productively.

Perform all other job specific duties as requested by supervisor.

Secondary Functions:

Perform all other actions necessary to accomplish the foregoing essential job functions.

Coordinate work with other crews and co-workers on the job.
