What You'll DoAs a Coating Engineer here, you'll be part of our PIH Team in Houston Texas. The role of the Coating Engineer is directly 'Customer Facing', serving customers, and supporting the Project Delivery Managers, project sites and other departments for technical & quality related issues for all PIH project work. This position helps to ensure that PIH coating systems and procedures obtain approval for use on projects and with clients. Representation of PIH at sites and at Client meetings to deal with, advise on and close out technical & quality issues is also a prominent role of this position.

Specifically, you'll perform the following duties:
  • Client interaction on technical and quality issues.
  • Liaising with other departments and site providing technical / quality support.
  • Review of Client and 3rd party scope of work including suppliers, specifications.
  • Support to sales team for specification review's, lab testing scopes, etc.
  • Preparation of project technical and quality documentation and reports.
  • Planning and execution of Procedure Qualification Trials (PQT's) in conjunction with the relevant service delivery departments, with responsibility for documenting technical / quality items, preparation of PQT / PPT reports, and Client liaison.
  • Tracking execution and costing of 3rd party laboratory testing.
  • Technical representation of PIH on project sites, when required.
  • Technical representation of PIH at Client's Project Meetings.
  • Due to the nature of the Business, it is anticipated that travel within the USA will be required and overseas may possibly be required.
  • Any other reasonable duties as required by your Line Manager.
What you will need:Skillset Requirements
  • Good communicational skills, task orientated.
  • Excellent time management and planning skills.
  • Commercially aware.
  • Good presentation and client facing skills.
  • Excellent all-round IT skills.
  • Strong problem-solving acumen.
  • Good technical report writing skills with the ability to import visuals, photos and diagrams into reports.
  • Good technical understanding of various coating materials.
Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Materials Sciences or Chemistry/Physics preferred or comparable work experience.
  • Appropriate Professional Qualifications (Level 2 Coating Inspector/NACE Level 2) (working towards achieving these if not already obtained).
Work Experience Required
  • Minimum 3 years relevant work experience in field joint / line pipe / anti-corrosive coating industries.
  • Experience of Engineering, Quality, Health & Safety and Environment process and systems.
  • Experience in an Engineering / materials-based background.
  • Change management experience with regards to process and procedure.
  • Experience working with standard operating procedural documentation, ensuring it is in place, being followed and reviewed / updated accordingly
