JOB SUMMARY The enterprise data architect visualizes, designs, and cultivates Company’s enterprise data management framework that is aligned with our business strategy and fitted in with our overall IT architecture. This enterprise data management framework describes and supports all Company’s data life cycles from inception through disposition, including all processes and mechanisms used to plan, specify, create, acquire, maintain, control, retrieve, utilize, modify, archive, and purge data – of all forms and formats, such as:
  • Relational and non-relational databases,
  • Data marts, data warehouses, and data lakes,
  • Unstructured data (emails, text files, audio-visuals, etc.),
  • Transactional data, reference/master data, and metadata,
  • Transient/dynamic data and permanent/static data,
  • Real-time, near real-time, and non-real-time data,
  • On premise and cloud-based data.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Designing and promoting a reference architecture for structured data (relational and non-relational databases, data marts and data warehouses, etc.)
  • Defining standards, principles, and guidelines that govern data specification and modeling, data creation and acquisition, data translation and transformation, data migration and transportation, data integration and storage, data retrieval and usage, data control and maintenance, and data protection and disposition.
  • Translating business requirements relating to data into technology requirements and technical specifications, then creating a high-level, integrated architectural design that meets those requirements and specifications.
  • Documenting and improving data flows (when and where data come from; when and where they are being stored/transformed, when and where they are being used, etc.) to improve data security and integrity, to maximize data throughput and minimize data latency, and to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Developing and promoting a common and consistent data vocabulary that is robust and sufficient for technology needs while being clear and easy to understand by business stakeholders.
  • Collaborating and coordinating with others (architects, developers, database administrators, vendors, business stakeholders, etc.) to propagate and advance Company’s enterprise data management framework.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • 5+ years as a data architect (or alternatively 7+ years as a data engineer) for a complex and integrated environment,
  • Solid understanding of data architecture and data modeling tools and techniques,
  • Strong knowledge of database technology including – but not limited to – Oracle and SQL Server,
  • Experience with data mart, data warehouse, and data lake design and architecture,
  • Strong analytical ability and outstanding problem-solving skill,
  • Good written and verbal communication skills at all levels and in all settings,
  • Certified data management professional (CDMP),
  • AWS certified solution architect associate,
  • Microsoft certified Azure data engineer associate.

Preferred Qualifications:

The qualifications listed below are preferred but not required:
  • Experience in petroleum industry (specifically trading, refinery, and petrochemical),
  • Experience with big data, data mining, and data analytics,
  • AWS certified solution architect professional,
  • TOGAF 9 certification
