Expected length of the temporary assignment is 4-6 months. There will be times when the worker needs to be in the office the entire week due to the nature of the project. Must meet vaccination policy. I-9 Compliance Specialist to perform a full I-9 Audit for a company with 5,000 active employees and 800 in scope terminated employees. I-9 forms are partially electronic and partially in paper form and employer participates in E-Verify. Responsible for an audit of all records in accordance with USCIS requirements.Essential Job Functions
  • Audit I-9s and supporting documentation for completeness and accuracy following USCIS requirements.
  • Correct I-9 errors according to USCIS standards and obtain any I-9s that may be missing.
  • Maintain I-9 audit log documenting all corrections and steps taken throughout the audit.
  • Audit E-Verify logs to ensure all current employees have been run through E-Verify.
  • Scan all paper I-9s into electronic file management system and organize original paper files appropriately.
  • Find opportunities to streamline business processes and recommend procedural changes based upon current market trends, compliance requirements and internal database capabilities.
  • Recommend a short-list of I-9 protocols for processors/hiring managers to follow to mitigate improperly completed I-9 forms.
Education/Certifications
  • High school diploma or the equivalent.
  • Bachelor of Human Resources or Business preferred; or any combination of education, training or experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
Experience/Minimum Requirements
  • 3+ years in HR operations, HR compliance, paralegal or related experienced required, including a demonstrated knowledge of I-9 and E-Verify requirements, with at least one full I-9 audit completed independently, as well as overall personnel file requirements.
  • Critical Evaluation ability to analyze current I-9 documents and personnel files to determine compliance with governmental regulations.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office suite applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Previous experience with HRIS systems (UltiPro/UKG) or other electronic I-9 programs, or equivalent technical aptitude preferred.
  • The ideal candidate for this temporary position is extremely detail-oriented and not afraid to question any/all pieces of the current process flow. Other Skills/Abilities
