Job Specifications – Lead, Network Engineer This hands-on position is responsible for engaging technical support staff and service providers to develop, support, and maintain network infrastructure. This position will assume senior responsibility for

Corporate and SCADA Networks, Corporate and SCADA Network Security, Corporate and SCADA Network Infrastructure Lifecycle Management. This position will provide project and team guidance for a diverse range of complex task assignments requiring the use of deep technical infrastructure knowledge, strong project management skills, advanced technical skills, customer services skills, innovation, drive, and strong judgment. In addition, the position is also responsible for helping manage vendor relationships and SLAs, translating system requirements into technical design, and ensuring solutions are successfully delivered to production. Furthermore, the position will provide mentorship to junior team members to help them advance in competency and growth. The candidate must be comfortable crossing into new fields of technical or business specialization. They will exercise substantial latitude for network infrastructure decisions while also complying with overarching IT strategy and corporate governance related to all IT Change Management and Control policies. The Lead, Network Engineer has responsibilities to include but not limited to:
  • Assists IT leadership in creating a long-term IT vision and developing an IT network strategic plan
  • Applies deep knowledge of IT networking operations & technologies in support of midstream energy operations that include existing, brownfield, and greenfield assets
  • Helps establish, implement, and reinforce network policies and standards
  • Serves as a technology advocate in presentations to key customers, shareholders and business staff
  • Engages with cross-functional teams and commits team resources to projects and key system initiatives as required
  • Oversees architecture, design, development, security and support of enterprise and SCADA networks while continually acting to improve network performance, reliability, and security
  • Maintains overall network health, security, maintenance, troubleshooting, change management, and disaster recovery (DR) to ensure the highest system availability
  • Develops redundancy strategies, backup procedures, and methods to ensure maximum network systems availability, reliability, and restorability
  • Configures firewalls, routing, and switching assets to maximize network efficiency and security
  • Engage with security analyst to implement, automate, or schedule necessary security compliance patching and updates
  • Provides guidance to technical teams using proven project management principles, support methodologies, and efficient process/tools, to deliver valued solutions across the enterprise
  • Offers technical training and mentoring to junior team members to promote competency and growth
  • Serves as a member of Emergency Response Team for communications support
  • Participates in Network Incident Management including notifying vendors as needed 24x7. This involves working with internal customers, vendors, and internal support personnel to achieve 99% uptime on all critical network equipment within environment and providing overtime and on-call support as needed
  • Shared responsibility for the guidance, procurement, deployment, and maintenance of corporate and SCADA organization’s network assets including firewalls, routers, switches, phones/UCAS, peripherals, microwave/cellular/RF connectivity, and satellite equipment
  • Shared responsibility for assisting field engineers with troubleshooting and maintenance of the SCADA network needs including PLCs, RTUs, end devices and serial protocols
  • Shared responsibility for procurement and contracting of network services including contractors, consultants, and other communication needs.
  • Acquires and utilizes business knowledge by taking advantage of available resources (Internet, books, periodicals, classes/workshops, conferences, etc.) to develop and foster business expertise solutions
  • Other duties as assigned
The successful candidate will possess the following basic skills and qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Business Administration degree from a 4-year accredited university, and 10+ years of related industry or technical experience
  • 5+ years’ experience in Information Technology specific to network operations including network design, network security, SCADA network operations
  • Experience leading project and application teams is required
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with executives, co-workers, systems teams, and customers
  • Ability to investigate and adopt modern technologies quickly and learn new skills
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal communication with ability to work with different teams
  • Self-motivated team player with vision and initiative
  • Dedicated to meeting expectations and requirements of internal and external customers
  • Willing to travel up to 10%
The successful candidate will possess the preferred skillsets:
  • Extensive knowledge of Datacenter implementation and operation
  • Extensive knowledge of Cisco routing and switching
  • Extensive knowledge of Cisco ISE/TACACS and BYOD
  • Extensive knowledge of firewall policy implementation and management for Palo Alto and Fortinet
  • Extensive knowledge of Cisco Voice Call Manager
  • Extensive knowledge SolarWinds– Orion, NCM, NPM
  • Extensive knowledge of WAN network topologies and communication devices including, radio, microwave, MPLS, satellite and cellular APN
  • Extensive knowledge of carrier technologies including but not limited to BGP
  • Extensive knowledge of common network protocols including but not limited to ARP, DNS, DHCP, FTP, TCP/IP, SMTP
  • Extensive knowledge of core diagnostic tools like Wireshark
  • Must have Fortinet experience
