Technical Development Manager We're looking for people with limitless passion, a relentless focus on innovation and a fanatical commitment to the customer to join us in shaping the future at Digital System. This is a Technical Manager role (70% management- 30% Technical) responsible for owning and delivering Product line features for our Customers who depend on our platforms for the daily operations and management of their business. You will work closely with product management to understand the customer requirements and define the delivery roadmap for the product You will be responsible for. The Sr. Technical Manager, Software Engineering position will lead engineers that are part of multidisciplinary Product teams to realize business outcomes via the development of software targeting rich user experiences. A person in this position will partner with Product Managers to manage and drive a roadmap of features and enhancements to our customer-facing digital solutions. The Sr. Technical Manager, Software Engineering will own the technical roadmap, procurement of technical resources, and the overall quality of the software products produced. A person in this position will be expected to participate in defining the technical and product vision to support a significant transformation targeting how consumers consider, purchase, and plan their vessel management more efficiently.

What You Will Do : Program Management
  • Own and manage product and technical delivery roadmaps, delivering high-quality results surpassing customer expectations and meeting product line quality requirements.
  • Manage technology programs by defining milestones and success criteria, resource allocation, and successful on-time delivery.
  • Designing, implementing, and introducing processes and practices required to keep a software engineering team running efficiently and promote process improvements.
  • Developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with project stakeholders over many different disciplines to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
  • Demonstrate ownership, accountability and collaborate with cross-functional teams across product groups that are geographically distributed
  • Direct responsibility for day-to-day activities of the team
  • Spend a percentage of time serving as a technical member of the team, with an increased percentage spent reviewing the work of others and setting the technical direction for the various areas of the product.
  • Promote innovation through the ability to introduce new technology/knowledge into multiple areas of a product and to our people.
  • Work closely with Customers to understand needs and/or to provide timely solutions to escalations.
  • Work with associated line of business leaders to establish and maintain a clear product road map.
  • Planning
  • Develop work plans, establish timelines, and set goals for the team.
  • Communicate schedules, priorities, and status to all levels in the company.
  • Assign resources as needed or engage contingent resources
  • Communication
  • Engage with team members in one-to-one meetings and create an open communication culture on the team
  • Prepare written and verbal presentations aligned with business and project planning
  • Prepare and provide timely progress status reports on roadmap delivery
  • People Management
  • Manage a team of Principal or Senior Software Engineers providing direct leadership of the team and owning application areas.
  • Manage personnel career paths and development, including appraisals. Recommend solutions to issues to your management.
  • Mentoring, counseling, and supporting individuals in their career growth, primarily through 1:1s and developing healthy relationships
  • Career development coaching and mentoring activities for team members and direct reports.
  • What You Will Need : Education & Experience
    • Minimum eight (6) years experience including at least two (3) years experience directly managing people, including hiring, developing, motivating, and directing people, and (3) years in a leadership role preferred
    • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a closely related field Preferred experience in the maritime industry
    • Experience leading teams of 20 software developers in a transactional Agile development environment
    • Must have at least 7-10 years of project or management experience and be comfortable leading highly technical teams through the product development lifecycle (PDLC)
    • Must have broad software project delivery experience in leading teams developing applications using a variety of tools, languages, frameworks, and technologies.
    • Must have experience crafting strategic direction for groups of applications, including performance tuning, usability assessment & improvement, automation technologies
    • Previous experience as a hands-on engineer in the development
    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
    • Demonstratable experience in managing, motivating, and mentoring a geographically distributed team of full-time engineers and offshore contractors, comprising multiple scrum teams, to maximize delivery velocity and quality
    • Experience in crafting a CI/CD-based culture and processes
    • Strong experience recruiting, assessing, and onboarding software engineers.
    • Proven leadership in facilitating complex discussions to achieve goals and solve problems. You have proven analytical and decision-making skills.
    • Excellent technical problem-solving skills and aptitude for learning new technologies and methodologies
    • Experience with cloud environment (Azure preferred)
    • Experience with Linux or other Unix systems (AIX preferred)
    • Demonstratable ability to build trust and strategic partnerships with assigned business area contacts, project teams, and leadership to facilitate two-way communication
