JOB Summary The mechanical engineer is a member of a multi-disciplined product engineering team, developing new products or modifying the existing products to meet the unique needs of the project or customer. He/she uses sound engineering practices to ensure the product design is safe, meets requirements and follows the relevant standards. The engineer will also provide engineering support to affected parties as required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Work withother engineering disciplines to develop design solutions that meet customer and project requirements
  • Model mechanical design concepts using 3D Parametric software. Produce drawings as needed
  • Check drawings from drafters and designers for accuracy. Ensure the design intent is clearly communicated
  • Check 3D models for accuracy and ensure they follow sound modeling principles and department guidelines
  • Prepare and check bills of material
  • Perform engineering calculations as required. Including, but not limited to:
    • Stress analysis
    • Dimension tolerance and fit studies
    • Finite Element Analysis as needed
    • Service life / Fatigue
  • Provide technical support to Quality, Manufacturing, Field Service, and Marketing
  • Interface with vendors and provide technical support
  • Participate in company safety meetings and safety awareness programs
  • Other duties may be assigned

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: Bachelors degree (or equiv.) in mechanical engineering and 5 years relevant engineering experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, comprehend and write in English. Ability to effectively present technical information, to colleagues, customers and vendors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS As per mechanical engineering degree requirements.

REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instruction furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations

COMPUTER SKILLS AutoCAD, MathCad, SolidWorks (or similar software) Manufacturing/Inventory software Spreadsheet and word processor software

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Valid Drivers License Valid Passport Domestic and international travel may be required.

  • Engineering expertise machine design, stress analysis, strength of materials, metallurgy, thermodynamics, heat transfer and fluid power.
  • Knowledge of MathCAD, AutoCAD, and SolidWorks (or similar software)
  • Knowledge of drilling engineering principles, drilling practices and drilling rigs.
  • Knowledge of drafting principles.
