Network Field Technician - Houston, TXContractOverviewOur client is looking for a Network Administrator to contribute to the operations of their network infrastructure. This person will assist with implementing, administering and optimizing all network related systems in the Houston area.Responsibilities include:
- Troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and other network and system problems
- Configuring, testing and implementing network switches and related hardware and software
- Replacing faulty network hardware when required
- Maintaining, managing, and supporting video conferencing equipment at multiple sites and maintaining and administering computer networks
- Protecting data, software, and hardware by coordinating, planning and implementing network security measures
- Monitoring network performance to determine if adjustments need to be made
- Conferring with network users about solving existing system problems
- Providing support for VoIP and Wireless system
- Dealing with multiple third-party vendors and contractors
- Managing and administering other IT related equipment including: VoIP, video conferencing systems, VPN, etc.
- Managing small to medium sized data centers
- Bachelor degree in Information Technology related field of study with a network engineering focus preferred
- 2 to 5 years working with and administering network infrastructure in a business environment
- Understanding of Cisco CLI
- Basic understanding of Palo Alto firewalls
- Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware
- Ability to think through problems and visualize solutions
- Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewall, routers, switches and controllers
- Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols
- Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems
- Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products
- Ability to work with all levels of staff within and outside of IT and outside the organization
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Dependable and flexible when necessary
- LAN and WAN experience
