CenterPoint Energy is seeking an Azure Senior Architect with 5+ years of "hands-on" experience and 12+ years of IT development in developing .Net Web/Enterprise applications to join our team!

You will define and implement the Azure cloud solution for this large, refactored application. Work as part of the Web engineering team to design and develop the cloud solution.

Ensures that requirements and on-going development efforts are considered as part of the cloud refactoring and migration approach and plans.

Evaluates methods to optimize and enhance the application within cloud environment to maximize performance and minimize costs.

Essential Duties/Responsibilties:
  • Strong technical experience with Microsoft Azure services, including understanding their capabilities and limitations and being able to architect and deliver solutions leveraging various Azure platform services
  • Expertise and interest in staying current around new Microsoft 365 solutions
  • Strong understanding of Active Directory and Azure
  • Facilitate / lead discussions (technical and executive) to understand business / technical requirements that result in decision making and drive decisions / alignment around deliverables.
  • Deliver the hands-on solutions for the client in conjunction with on and offshore teams
  • Architectural expertise around Microsoft security solutions
  • Azure Virtual Desktop
  • Endpoint Management expertise
  • Mobile Device Management expertise
  • Enterprise Mobility + Security Suite and M365 Microsoft's cloud strategy
  • Has a strong understanding of cloud computing technologies, emerging trends, and related technologies
  • Designs and develops the Azure cloud solution to host a large business-critical application including production, development, and other environments
  • Creates and presents solution designs, options, ideas, and innovations
  • Assists with converting application code and databases to modern languages and structures using automated tools
  • Deploys the application and data into the new Azure environments utilizing Azure DevOps Pipelines and automation
  • Integrates converted code, new databases, and interfaces into the modernized application
  • Establishes project estimates and plans, identifies risks and mitigations, oversees development and delivery of technical solutions
  • Able to articulate pros & cons of design/architecture decision across a wide spectrum of factors
Keep Up with Technology Trends:
  • Obtain baseline certifications, partner specializations, and advanced level industry-standard certifications within management-specified technology as well as utilize partner configuration tools; maintain and continually advance certifications
  • Maintain and enhance product and solution knowledge as a subject matter expert in defined, targeted fields
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends, new solutions, and competitive landscape

Education:Bachelor's degree in MIS, computer science, math, or other science field required.

Preferred Experience, Education and Skills:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline
  • Azure Solution Architect Certification preferred
  • 10+ years of IT experience
  • 5+ years of relevant Engineering experience in Microsoft Azure
  • 5+ years of relevant Microsoft Azure design & delivery experience
  • Knowledge of modern application design principles
  • Up to speed on latest Microsoft Azure products and services

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Additional Knowledge, Skills, Licenses/Certifications, Abilities & Personal Characteristics (KSLAPs):
  • Knowledge and experience in jQuery / Bootstrap / AngularJS etc.
  • Experience with mobile web and hybrid frameworks like Phone Gap preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to view a personal computer monitor or laptop screen for extended periods of time.

  • Able to operate a personal computer, desktop and/or laptop and office equipment, and view a monitor or screen for extended periods of time
  • Able to use up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally, to move, lift or push objects, and/or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, and/or pull
  • Able to reach, grasp and move items
Working Conditions:
  • Able to be on call 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 365 days per year.
  • Able to work rotating shifts.
  • Able to work indoors, in an office environment, regardless of whether cubicle, open office or private office
  • May be required to remain in the service area during emergency events and assume responsibilities assigned by the company to aide in restoration efforts
