Microsoft is committed to building a more just and equitable sustainable future globally, and CO+I Sustainability is hiring a Senior Program Manager to help advance our commitments to be carbon negative by 2030, zero waste by 2030, water positive by 2030, and protect more land than we use by 2025 using justice-centered strategies.CO+I is the engine that powers our cloud services. We deliver the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, Skype, OneDrive and the Microsoft Azure platform. Our infrastructure is comprised of a large global portfolio of more than 100 datacenters and 1 million servers, managed by a team of subject matter experts working to support services for more than 1 billion customers and 20 million businesses in over 90 countries worldwide.Within CO+I, the Sustainability team sparks, scales, and reports on datacenter initiatives that help the company meet its global sustainability commitments. As part of the CO+I Sustainability team, you will collaborate across multiple stakeholders both internal and external to Microsoft. You will drive programs to design and deliver onour public sustainability targets, focusing on cross-functional relationshipsand interdepartmental alignment. You will also represent CO+I with customers and suppliers as subject matter expert in datacenter sustainability. You are well-versed in the many dimensions of corporate sustainability. You are adept at facilitating multi-stakeholder and multi-sector initiatives as well as building enduring trusted relationships. You can work effectively within varied business contexts including technology, finance, public policy, and communications – you are fluent in speaking multitude of business languages. You have been successful working within a matrixed organizational structure where you lead through influence and teamwork. You work comfortably on strategic work while also working comfortably on the less glamorous but critical architecture that underpins the success of individuals across the team.In alignment with our Microsoft values, we are committed to cultivating an inclusive work environment for all employees to positively impact our culture every day.ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities:Build and run processes that align and implement sustainability strategies across the organization.

Represent the breadth of CO+I Sustainability leadership and ambition internally and externally.

Help to create and refine communications and sustainability thought leadership.

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify, pilot and scale approaches to integrate sustainability initiatives across carbon, water, waste, and ecosystems.

Identify, pilot and scale approaches to integrate environmental justice into sustainability initiatives across water, waste, and ecosystems.

Work with central corporate sustainability team to prepare various documents, including annual public sustainability report, annual CDP inventory report, semester, and quarterly data summaries.

Contribute to CO+I efforts to prepare data, documentation, and presentations for Climate Council meetings and monthly CO+I sustainability leadershipreviews; prepareand review ad hoc blogs, slide decks, and briefs.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:Minimum 5 years of experience:

Leading a corporate sustainability function creating corporate sustainability work plans with goals, impact quantification, budgeting, and direct toward achievement using key indicators.

Experience with carbon accounting.

Engaging customers and suppliers as subject matter expert in datacenter sustainability.

Exceptional written, presentation, and interpersonal skills: Communicate effectively and concisely with stakeholders and leaders about our programs and objectives.

College or university degree, with US Armed Services Honorable Discharge or additional 4+ years’ experience.

Proficient at Microsoft Office suite of products and collaboration software.

Preferred Skills and Experience:3 years of experience working in environmental and climate justice, collaboration with frontline organizations and/or lived experience.

Advance degree in Sustainable Business Administration.

Information analysis: ability to interpret sustainability data and anecdotal feedback, synthesize, explain to others, and recommend improvements

Build support with an executive audience, collaborating with diverse, cross-sector stakeholder groups (corporates, governmental, NGO, frontline community organizations).

Prioritizing and executing in sophisticated situations with incomplete information.

Transforming complex, conflicting opportunities into clear, strategic priorities

Develop high level strategy and simultaneously execute.

Work with cross-functional teams and form relationships with key partners.

Incubating and scaling new corporate environmental projects focused on one or more environmental impact areas including carbon, water stewardship, waste diversion, and/or ecosystems health.

Influence without authority.

Data management and/or business analytics.

Personal resilience and optimism.

Demonstrated adaptation and flexibility in the face of change, comfort in ambiguity.

Demonstrated track record of creating innovative approaches to adapting corporate processes and policies to solve environmental problems.

Experience working with individual contributors, technical specialists, managers, and executives across disciplines.

Demonstrable impact on a global program, with clear targets and milestones.
