Our Client is Group of Insurance Companies is currently seeking a Paralegal to join its House Counsel team in Houston, Texas. This is a contract to Hire Role after 6 mths Education: College or university four year degree is preferred. Certificate of completion from a recognized paralegal training program or equivalent practical experience is preferred. Competencies/Tech Skills: Experience in personal injury litigation process with insurance defense is preferable. [Experience with employment law would be helpful]. Excellent customer service manner as well as a strong knowledge of Microsoft Word is essential. The ability to navigate and effectively manage a case management system is required. Strong analytical skills as well as superior written and verbal communication skills are necessary. Strong time management and organizational skills with an ability to work in a high volume office and team environment are essential. The candidate should be a highly self-motivated individual, possess high initiative and have the ability to work independently. The ability to perform legal research is preferred. Position Description: Energetic individual who will drive the discovery process by preparing, assembling, and serving discovery demands and responses and correspondence in an accurate and timely manner with direction and guidance of the firm’s attorneys. Follow up with our clients and adversaries for compliance with our discovery demands and court orders relating to discovery, drafting letters and motions where appropriate. Prepare reports to claims/clients summarizing discovery responses and summarizing medical and other subpoenaed records for attorney review. Keep current with court rules, regulations, and procedures on e-filing. Proactively request full and complete medical records from providers and follow up where necessary. Ensure independent medical examinations and/or record reviews are conducted timely upon receipt of all applicable authorizations/records. Ensure all data entered in our Prolaw system is entered accurately and updated regularly. Collaborate with and assist the attorneys in providing quality legal representation in discovery, correspondence, motions and trial preparation. Prioritize assignments and meet all statutory and court ordered deadlines by maintaining an accurate and updated diary system. Develop proficiency in legal research/writing sufficient to improve and maintain your skills and knowledge. Coordinate trial preparation by communicating with your team concerning trial preparation activities.
