Integrative Behavioral Health and Wellness, Inc is a non-profit organization, serving the Harris and Waller Counties. We provide myriad services, including counseling to children, adolescents, adults, and families, psychological assessments, and transitional & assisted living services.

We are currently seeking a Contract Mental Health Counselor (MHC).

Job Summary: The Mental Health Counselor is responsible for providing counseling and support services to individuals with mental health needs. The MHC works to promote optimum and continuum behavioral, mental, and emotional wellness. Develops and maintains referral sources for mental health clientele, and communicates with others members on the clients team, if necessary.

Essential Functions:

- Provide counseling to youth, families, and adults in the community.

- Assess and diagnose clients' mental status through interviews, observations, and collateral information.

- Develop treatment plans or make referrals to the appropriate services.

- Provide group counseling and educational groups/seminars as requested.

- Provide crisis intervention services to clients who are a danger to themselves or others.

- Participate in client care clinical treatment staff meetings to review client progress and treatment plans, and share caseload activities to the team.

- Ensure documentation timely and consistently.

- Work in conjunction with all members of the team to facilitate a safe environment for client progression.

- Uphold the core principles of Integrative Behavioral Health and Wellness, Inc's culture and contribute to a positive working environment for all team members.

- Maintain strict confidentiality on all client and foundation matters and refer questionable issues to your supervisor or compliance officer.

- Maintain compliance with federal and state regulatory standards as well as Integrative Behavioral Health and Wellness, Inc policies and procedures.

Qualifications for the MH Counselor Position:

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Must have proficient knowledge in the following areas:

- diagnosis and treatment of mental health and substance abuse issues according to the DSM5

- prevention strategies

- needs and risk assessment

- substance abuse

- family dynamics

- culturally diverse populations

- crisis management

- the impact of trauma

- experienced and/or knowledgeable in therapeutic education and counseling to youth, adults, families, and groups.

- capable of active listening, remaining objective, and de-esculating and/or resolving conflicts.

- display self-motivation, patience, perseverance, and resilience in a challenging environment and to achieve goals.

- presents a professional and positive image.

- respectful communication with both staff and clients

- establish appropriate client boundaries and role model appropriate, professional behaviors

- possesses good oral and written communication skills.

- possesses good time management skills needed to meet deadlines

- knowledgeable of therapeutic community philosophy

- willingness to adhere to the therapeutic community modality.

- demonstrate mission of service to our clients

- ability to consistently uphold the Core Principles of Integrative Behavioral Health and Wellness, Inc's culture with all team members

Education

Minimum Requirements: Obtained Master's degree Licensure to provide counseling in the State of Texas Two (2) years of mental health and/or substance abuse treatment experience preferred willingness to work evenings or Saturdays if needed
