Upon completion students will receive a state recognized certificate to become a security officer in the State of Texas. Firearms Required Equipment:For the classroom portion of your training, it is recommended that you bring a notebook or notepad with pen or pencil for note taking.Â

A jacket or sweater for the classroom gets chilly.ÂWe ask that as a consideration to those with allergies, that you do not wear perfumes orÂfragrancesÂduring the class.Â

During the firearms range portion of the class, you are required to qualify with a handgun. The handgun must be at least a .38 caliber revolver or at least a 9-mm semiautomatic. Bring your handgun to the range (not to the classroom), 50 rounds of ammunition (you are responsible for purchasing your own ammo), hearing and eye protection for the range.Please note that if you qualify with a revolver, while on duty as a Security Officer, you will only be allowed to carry a revolver. If you qualify with a semiautomatic, while on duty working as a Security Officer, you may carry a semiautomatic .9mm or .40 caliber. ÂIn addition, you may qualify with a shotgun. Note, there are extra range fees associated with qualifying with a shotgun.Price:$180 (Level II and Level III)State Pre-Qualifications:License changes effective 09/01/2019 require a Level II certification in addition, or prior to any Level III class.If you are interested in applying for this class, you should verify that your criminal background is free of convictions that are felonies, convictions that are Class A and Class B Misdemeanors in the last five years.After you receive your certificate of completion for having passed this training, the State will require that you get fingerprinted (they'll charge a fee) and you will have to pay the State an application/registration fee (State will charge you a fee for that).Check the Private Security Bureau's website for a complete list of steps that you have to take in order to get your license activated.Â
