The Senior System Software Engineer ensures the high availability, security, and recoverability of the platforms and its applications. The Senior System Software Engineer works with the Software Engineers and Platform Engineers to resolve bugs, incidents, and user support requests related to the platform and engineers and develops the internal monitoring and pipeline service subsystems. The Senior System Software Engineer provides the escalation point of contact for the platform and has the primary responsibility for day-to-day product maintenance and monitoring activities for all product lines. Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance and oversight for 4-6 staff for matters related in support of Site Reliability Engineering (support lead, feedback for development requirements to optimize support operations, etc.).
- Optimize existing infrastructure solutions using AWS and Azure cloud services.
- Function as Lead for 24/7 Production Support squad.
- Work as part of DevOps team on user stories.
- Influence and implement nonfunctional support requirements like performance testing, monitoring, alerting, resiliency, continuous integration and deployment.
- Work with platform squads and other technology teams to establish, improve and measure application support involving modern development practices, such as Agile, Continuous Delivery, DevOps and System Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles.
- Manage stakeholder relationships with technology teams or end-user clients on a day to day basis.
- Participate in Incident Management and Problem Management processes to resolve Production issues and root cause analysis, resolution, and reporting.
- Participate in Change Management processes to deploy Production releases.
- Strong skills related to analysis, research, investigation and evaluation, with a structured approach to problem solving.
- Strong knowledge and experience in DevOps and Agile teams.
- Strong knowledge and experience across multiple platforms, including Cloud architecture.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral appropriately scaled for technical or business audience.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, team player.
- Proficient in the development, implementation, and management of CI/CD Pipelines employed by a software-as-a-service platform
- Proficient in web markup, including HTML5, CSS3.
- Proficient in server-side CSS pre-processing platforms, such as LESS and SASS.
- Proficient in client-side scripting and JavaScript frameworks, including jQuery.
- Proficient in asynchronous request handling, partial page updates, and AJAX.
- Proficient understanding of the Git code versioning including branching and merging to enable continuous integration and continuous delivery methodologies.
- Proficient in C# and ASP.NET Core.
- Proficient in Visual Studio, Azure Dev Ops.
- Proficient in API and User Interface development using modern web and mobile frameworks.
- Understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and ways to work around them.
- Understanding of Angular 9 and Bootstrap.
- Understanding of the Atlassian suite of tools including Jira, Confluence, and Bitbucket.
- Understanding of infrastructure as a service, micro services, and Serverless architectures.
- Able to work and effectively prioritize in a highly dynamic work environment that includes a global focus.
- Able to develop and test own code throughout the software testing pyramid.
- Able to work effectively by themselves and with remote teams.
- Able to learn and adapt quickly to AWS and Azure roadmap and technology changes.
- Knowledge and experience in web-based applications and architecture.
- 5+ years of platform development experience.
- 2+ years of experience working in cloud based environment
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, at the Associate level
- ITIL Service Management Foundation certification
- SAFe DevOps Practitioner Certification
