Summary: The Desktop Administrator is responsible for the proactive management of Company’s desktop ecosystem. This includes the tracking of assets (both software and hardware), defining patch management schedule, updating/managing standard images and imaging process, and packaging applications for deployment. This critical position ensures all desktops/laptops are current with patching and manages the application portfolio of engineering applications to ensure maintenance and licensing agreements are current to minimize unexpected outages for engineers and designers. When required, this role may also need to provide direct end user break/fix support and respond to user request

Requirements:

Education/Certification:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) preferred
  • Comp TIA ITF+/A+ Certification preferred
  • 3 – 5 years of work experience installing, maintaining, and repairing computers and peripherals
  • 3 – 5 years of work experience with user provisioning and administration
  • 2 – 3 years of work experience deploying software and managing desktop applications
  • 5+ years’ experience managing desktop images, patch management, and application packaging including establishing these functions in a greenfield environment
  • Knowledge and experience with: Active Directory, Microsoft Azure, Office 365, VMWare, SCCM, ManageEngine, Microsoft Printing, User Provisioning, LAN/WAN systems
  • Background in supporting technologies unique in civil engineering, surveying, and construction management
  • Demonstrated knowledge of networking software, hardware, and networking protocols
  • Demonstrated knowledge of cybersecurity principles is preferred, but not a requirement
  • Knowledge of and experience with ITIL and technology life cycles
  • Strong communication skills with demonstrated ability to communicate technical and non-technical terms across vendors, professional engineers, and users
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to work unsupervised in a dynamic and fast paced environment
  • Business Customer First mindset when engaging with end users

Responsibilities:
  • Manage and maintain standard images and the imaging process on Company’s support tool OS Deployer.
  • Manage the desktop application portfolio across the enterprise ensuring that software licensing is current and interruptions of service due to lapsed licensing, or insufficient licenses does not occur. Also track the utilization of licenses to ensure Company is using existing licenses in the most efficient manner.
  • Package and maintain applications used across the enterprise using Company’s end point management tool Desktop Central. This role is also responsible for the administration of Desktop Central.
  • Deployment of applications as required across the enterprise.
  • Maintain accurate inventory of hardware, software, and other equipment and material at assigned site(s).
  • Provide technical assistance to users of computers, production equipment, and software as required.
  • Install and configure application and operating system software and upgrades.
  • Assist with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of data communications circuits and equipment when required.
  • Diagnose and repair network connectivity and hardware issues, including printers, telecommunications, and local switches.
  • Maintain documentation related to and coordinate repairs for warranty work.
  • Respond to after-hours emergencies as needed.
  • From time to time, there may be other areas where assistance will be required depending on business need
