As a trusted advisor, this role applies an in-depth knowledge of GM Financial organizational structure, inter-departmental relationships, and agile principles to help teams and organizations align strategic objectives to accelerate value delivery.

At GM Financial, we're looking for an experienced and highly motivated Scrum Master III. The Scrum Master III will help coach Agile Teams through the ongoing transformation at GM Financial to support a customer centric, product-based approach. In this Agile environment, the Scrum Master III will partner with stakeholders to influence strategic decision and execution on delivering our products in Digital IT. Many of our teams utilize the SAFe framework to help mitigate dependencies and have a high-level plan in place to help guide towards completion of larger efforts. What will you do:

  • Guiding and coaching the Scrum Teams and organization on how to apply agile values and principles, and using Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe frameworks.
  • Assist RTE and Agile Coach with coaching fellow Scrum Masters and product and engineering partners.
  • Building a trusting and psychologically safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or being judged, with an emphasis on healing and problem solving.
  • Facilitating getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work
  • Working closely with the Product Management to ensure product backlog is visible and prioritized towards business value.
  • Empowering the team to be self-organized.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Conform with all company policies and procedures.

What you bring to the table:

  • Must exhibit expert knowledge of agile frameworks including Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe.
  • Recognized Scrum Master and advanced certifications and at least five (5) years of agile experience.
  • Demonstrated evidence of continuous learning mindset.
  • Prefer proficient in the use of Azure DevOps.

Skills:

  • Exceptional coaching and mentoring skills at the team and management levels.
  • Ability to teach and train on Agile, Scrum, Kanban, and SAFe at a level accessible to beginners with the ability to deep dive for advanced topics.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent work or military experience required
  • Master's Degree in related field preferred

Experience:

  • 3-5 years leading Agile teams as a Scrum Master required
  • 5-7 years working on an agile team required

Licenses:

  • Scrum Master Certification: CSM, PSM I, or PMI-ACP. At least one is required
  • Advanced Scrum Master Certification: PSM II or A-CSM preferred
  • SAFe Certifications: SSM, SA, SP, POPM
  • Advanced SAFe Certifications preferred: RTE, SASM
  • SAFe SPC Strongly preferred
