Abbott’s life-changing tests and diagnostic tools provide insights that enable smarter, faster decisions and transform the way the world is managing health.Our pioneering technology spans the world of healthcare operations — with medical diagnostic instruments, tests, automation and informatics solutions for hospitals, reference labs, blood centers, emergency departments, physician offices and clinics.Our location in Irving, TX currently has an opportunity for a Senior Project Manager for R&D that with a high level of independence, will define, coordinate, integrate, and drive division worldwide R&D, Operations, Regulatory, and Commercial activities associated with product development programs throughout a product's life cycle. Will also participate in the division's strategic product direction for product segments, serve as product line champion during the definition, planning development, launch, and post launch phases.WHAT YOU’LL DO:

Manage projects that support the common processes across the Research and/or Development phases. Scope is multiple large scale; complex projects.

Oversees the successful completion of project tasks on time and within budget for the product development phase.

Goal Setting: Anticipates future directions in customer needs and scientific advances; evaluates multiple scenarios; recommends or selects one or more scenarios that best aligns with ADD's business strategy.

Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.

Integrate customer need, technical capability, and business drivers to propose and drive project plan.

Communicate product development project status to development teams and division management.

Balance product cost, performance, and time to market issues in order to meet division goals.

Provide the forum to facilitate communications, problem solving, and goal alignment between operational and commercial organizations prior to and throughout product launch.

Work with functional leadership to determine and ensure appropriate resource availability and assignments.

Provide leadership and mentoring to project teams.

Prioritize activities among several projects to balance resource availability, project status and schedule, and business need.

Work with functional leadership to anticipate and solve problems, and work to break down barriers across organizations involved in project management.

Manage regular review meetings with project teams representing R&D, Operations, Quality, Regulatory, Marketing, and Commercial areas.

Manage products throughout their entire life cycle, from onset through launch.

Present appropriate product development metrics to communicate status of product development.

Implements project plans to meet project goals; considers technical, resource and regulatory requirements of the product development phase.

Funding: Participates in identifying project funding needs.

Follow an increasingly complex and evolving Design Control system throughout for product development activities.

Responsible for implementing and maintaining the effectiveness of the quality system.

Risk Management: Follow project risk management processes and ensure that project risk is managed and escalated appropriately.

Provides risk assessment (both safety and project related) and communicates critical issues impacting product quality to management.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING:Required:

Bachelor’s Degree in a discipline appropriate to projects.

10 plus years of experience leading several high complex projects from beginning to end.

Demonstrated technical skills and management judgment appropriate to the project.

Demonstrated expertise in PM tools and processes (like Microsoft Projects).

Preferred

Professional training credentials that are recognized in the field of project management (e.g. PMP) or equivalent is a plus.

Knowledge of regulations and standards affecting IVDs and Biologics.

Previous R&D experience with product development processes.

Previous experience managing R&D mechanical and electrical development programs is strongly preferred.

Previous experience in fast-paced program timelines.
