- What are the top "must have" skills for the role?
- Essentially need someone with an Application development background that has transitioned into a more infrastructural/operational type role. Need to talk both languages.
- Cloud technology experience, preferably Azure (AWS is ok). They use product for infrastructure code call Pulumi (similar would be Terraform).
- Someone that is exposed to infrastructure's code is wonderful.
- Data company so understanding database technologies. OLTP and OLAP technologies is important.

- Understand data concepts.
- Good understanding Dev Ops and tool set as it is leverage throughout SDLC. No hands on DevOps work, but can be a middle man in some steps of the process.
- Type of code does not make as much, they do leverage Java, .Net, and Angular. Pulumi is based on typescript and there may be coding there.
- Experience in end to end system automation and how to help guide it. (someone who has been down the tranches and unsterstand application infrastructure.)
- Containerization knowledge/experience (Kubernetes and Docker understanding) they also leverage pivotal cloud boundary in long term container platform is still being pushed out.
- Connectivity experience in networking, at the very least an understanding. They will at times need to jump on firewalls and low balancing.
- Soft skills: Able to communicate across levels, app dev teams, leadership, etc.
- Facilitate, create, and use automation to streamline the provisioning, management, and monitoring of applications and services using multiple scripting languages, infrastructure-as-code, and cloud.
- Promote and assist Application Development team with incorporating standard technical stack when provisioning new solutions.
- Liaison with Application Development teams, Infrastructure & Operations, and automation/DevOps team to promote and incorporate the DevOps tool chain.
- Partner with development and platform teams to design and implement zero-downtime deployment approaches, real-time logging, alerting, and monitoring solutions, and code instrumentation.
- Coordinate with the solution architect to design a highly available solution that meets availability, scalability, and reliability objectives and to reduce manual activities using automation, when feasible.
- Assess gaps in as-is monitoring tool capabilities and recommend tools to augment or replace existing tools.
- Perform instrumenting applications to enable performance diagnostics and monitoring.
- Support applications and services before they go live through activities such as system design consulting, creation of application flow diagrams, capacity planning and launch reviews.
- Relevant degree preferred.
- 5 or more years of relevant experience is required.
- Engineering and/or architecture experience in a complex environment, such as: large scale web infrastructure or development team required.
- Experience in a broad range of software development and operations technologies such as Infrastructure, virtualization, load balancing, containers, JVMs, web servers, application debugging, queuing technologies, caching technologies, databases (RDBMS and NoSQL), routing and switching, etc. is preferred.
- Experience with OLTP, OLAP including Data Lake and/or the Health Services industry is preferred.
- Knowledge of DevOps related practices such as CI/CD, Canary Pushes/ Blue-Green deployments, Software Defined Infrastructure and tools and etc. preferred.
