Overview

The User Experience Researcher II will work closely with user experience team members, stakeholders, product managers and developers to articulate qualitative and quantitative research data that will collaborate the user experience strategy and design of GM Financial digital products.

Responsibilities

JOB DUTIES

  • Observes users and conducts contextual inquiries to acquire qualitative ethnographic research data
  • Work with team lead to generates hypotheses and identifies opportunities tied directly to research data
  • Collaborates with stakeholders, product managers, designers, researchers, and developers to create UX enhancements and translate market and user research into requirements
  • Identifies areas of opportunity and generates solutions to enhance user experience
  • Develops personas based on user research data
  • Conducts industry and market research
  • Conducts competitive analysis for industry related products and services
  • Conducts usability studies and tests with the use of prototypes
  • Analyzes products and services offered by both GM Financial and competitors through heuristic evaluation
  • Stays up-to-date on research methods and emerging trends
  • Assist in conducting meetings and presentations to report user research findings and action plans
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Conform with all company policies and procedures

Qualifications

Knowledge

  • Working knowledge of research activities including: contextual inquiry, heuristic evaluation, usability testing, persona creation and user journey mapping
  • Experience with behavioral data-collection and analysis skills (eg study designing, conducting, and analyzing all kinds of user data)
  • Experience conducting user interviews, focus groups and interacting with Customers
  • Experience with wireframe creating and information architecture design

Skills

  • Ability to assist with large meetings and present detailed research to a variety of peers including stakeholders, designers and developers
  • Ability to travel to multiple facilities to conduct research
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Keen eye to preserve integrity of the design throughout the entire development process
  • Fluency in English and Spanish with the ability to quickly translate documents and conversations preferred

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent work experience required

Experience

  • 3-5 years of user research experience required

Working Conditions

  • Normal office environment subject to stressful situations
  • Flexible schedule with possibility of working long hours including weekends/holidays, occasional overtime or split shifts may be required
  • Limited travel may be required to support business needs
  • Strong focus on providing quality service to internal and external customers
