    The Opportunity

    7DRIVE is 7-Eleven's delivery division and we're on a mission to bring on-demand delivery to cities and towns throughout the United States. As the Software Engineering Manager for 7DRIVE you will provide sound technical leadership in all aspects of our business. You will communicate with employees, stakeholders, and customers to ensure our company's technologies are used appropriately. Strategic thinking and strong business acumen are essential in this role. You should be well-versed in current technological trends and familiar with a variety of business concepts.

    • Hire, build, grow, and develop high-performing technical teams and o versee the overall development life cycle of the software solutions and managing complex projects with significant bottom-line impact
    • Use technology to generate value for a company and help it achieve its business objectives
    • Develop a technology vision and strategy that will allow the company to thrive and build a solid competitive advantage
    • Drive core technology investments that underpin the business operations
    • Optimize and maintain technology that supports the business model and operations
    • Assess and ensure technology investments are on track to yield a strong financial return
    • Budget effectively for the organization's technology needs
    • Manage a large portfolio of projects and balance a range of stakeholders
    • Use stakeholders' feedback to inform necessary improvements and adjustments to technology
    • Build quality assurance and data protection processes
    • Keep an eye on emerging technology trends, use customer intelligence, watch competitors, and the external market
    • Understand how technology can achieve company objectives and how to utilize it to do so
    • Working with team in developing a strategy and road map to provide compelling capabilities for the client community that helps them succeed in their goals.
    • Developing the best technical design and approach for new product development.
    • Instilling best practices for software development and documentation, assure designs meet requirements, and deliver high-quality work on tight schedules.
    • Delivering projects according to timelines and scope
    • Managing development projects with proper prioritization, planning of projects and features, Stakeholder management and tracking of external commitments
    • Leading engineering efforts to meet aggressive timelines with optimal solutions within budget
    • Facilitating technical discussions and drive solutions forward to achieve business needs and ensure alignment to strategic technology vision
    • Delivering operational excellence; monitoring of production services

    Qualifications

    You Bring

    • 7+ years combined working experience in RESTful Service / API Development using server-side technologies such as NodeJS and/or Python
    • 3+ years of experience with Cloud Technologies such as AWS, Azure and Google Cloud Platform
    • Demonstrate proficiency in Javascript programming language and Microservices architecture
    • Extensive experience running medium to large/complex projects with multiple dependencies, planning implementation and support of business application components, including change & release management
    • Advanced knowledge of RESTful Services, Middleware Technologies, and Database Design, including experience with both Relational and NoSQL databases (MongoDB)
    • Demonstrated ability to analyze, propose and implement timely, cost effective, quality solutions for all applications within area of responsibility
    • Demonstrated ability to facilitate and lead technical discussions and drive solutions forward to achieve business needs
    • Demonstrated experience with designing or working with highly available and reliable systems including work on technical design and architecture
    • Experience with CI/CD automation preferred
    • Strong experience facilitating issue intervention and driving improvements
    • Strong skills in risks identification, tracking and planned mitigation
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Strong innovation, creativity, and problem-solving skills
    • Working knowledge of Agile Framework
    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent.
    • 7+ years' experience as a Developer (preferred experience with Java/ Javascript /C#/Full stack)
    • 5+ years' experience as a technical manager
    • 3+ years direct people management experience
